5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely
This book is charming without being condescending. The illustrations perfectly evoke the peace that can be found in the night, as well as the impish character of Alice in Wonderland, where clocks have faces and tea cups make music.
There is wonder in the simplest of things! What a lovely book!

3.0 out of 5 stars Not So Much...
This book is not horrible. It just doesn't have "it". Those of you that read a lot to your kids know that there are just books that click when you read them and you and the kids just love to hear it over and over.
This book just did not do anything for us. The pictures are ok, not really anything special. The words are fine. The soothing night time feel is...

4.0 out of 5 stars One to own, January 11, 2007

I read a blurb about this title in newsprint, and bought it for my two-year old granddaughter, a fairly non-interested reader. It's beautifully illustrated and has a engaging, not too long, not too short, tale. It made the longlist of her favorites.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic art and story, August 14, 2007
This review is from: So Sleepy Story (Hardcover)
This is a bedtime book my almost-2-year-old daughter loves and what's more I continue to love despite many, many readings of it. The pictures are so detailed and expressive and the story so simple yet compelling that it never gets boring.

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent bedtime story, April 30, 2010
This review is from: So Sleepy Story (Hardcover)
We read this each night before bed. The tone of the book is interesting and fun without being too stimulating. The illustrations are fantastic and help set the rhythm of the book that starts slow with everything in the house sleeping to more vibrant as some music wakes everything up to soft and slow again as everything drifts back to sleep as the music drifts away. It is great for assisting my almost-3-year-old son as he transitions to his bed for sleep. Highly recommended!

This book just did not do anything for us. The pictures are ok, not really anything special. The words are fine. The soothing night time feel is there, but the "plot" that tries to push the story is pretty weak.

I recommend the Dinosaur's Binkit. That has been one of my son's favorites since he was about six months and could get into book time.

A lovely book for very young children. Vivid, clear pictures which create a calm mood. You go in and out of the story with the child very smoothly.

5.0 out of 5 stars It makes ME yawn everytime I read it!, October 6, 2008
This review is from: So Sleepy Story (Hardcover)
My baby (20 months) loves this book and it's always in active rotation. He likes looking at the little details in the pictures (the cat, the train, the moon). And the number of times you say "sleepy" literally makes you sleepy!

I have two sons 4 and 1 and this book keeps their attention. It even puts them in the right mood to go to sleep. I even get sleepy reading this book. Good job!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great bedtime book, May 9, 2007

I saw this book featured in Time and searched for it here and read the excerpt -- and I knew I just had to get it for my 20 month old son. We love reading it before bedtime, and the hypnotic cadence of the text calms him until he's sleepy. I read it in a sleepy voice and get sleepy myself!

Go on use your imagination and creativity. Nice book, which gives you the opportunity to enhance with your own words.

Junior now turns it down as he knows its the lights out book. At least i got about 20 uses out of it before he got savvy
