Jonathan and his electric guitar will take you down satisfying journey where head nodding, finger popping and foot tapping will be the theme of day when listening to the catchy beats of this delightful release titled "So Strong".
Jonathan, his lovely songbird daughters Jodie and Randy, along with a host of talented artist took their time and did this right.
Beautiful instrumentals "Avia/For My Baby" (named for Jonathan and Bareneses' granddaughter, Avia), "I Pay Respect" (A Trubute to Jonathans' homeland roots), Jazzy Scattin' "Good Times", and, "Make Room For Me" (Titled by Dave Koz) are sure to please and ease, along with Jonathans bluzie and relaxing version of "I Can See Clearly Now". The positively reassuring timeless favorites, "You Got To Believe In Something" and "Color Green" will energize your spirit. "Factual","I'm Right Here", "Feel So Good" and "Be Here With You" (A soon to be timeless classic with Angie Stone) are sure to be Jazz and R&B chart toppers along with the 3 versions of the universal catchy melody of "So strong" Very good job Jonathan!

VERY GOOD CD OF NEW SONGS BY JONATHAN BUTLER.GREAT CD, THE WHOLE CD IS SLAMMING.

In a word this latest release from J. Butler was splendid, the mix of R&B and jazz enveloped in African sensibility made this work a standout, in particular, the title tract, ' so strong,' 'make room for me,' 'factual,' and 'colour green.'

Although I have seen Jonathan Butler live several times, when I put this on to play I immediately wanted to see him live again. He's a few years older, but his distinctive voice and guitar skills are still at their prime and his charisma still oozes out. He is one of the best diamonds ever exported from South Africa.

I own every Jazz CD by Jonthan Butler, So Strong is just as great as his earlier CD's. You can't go wrong if purchase this CD.

This is a great body of work, it is absolutely superb. The entire set was compiled with quality, heartfelt feelings and emotions. The entire set is worth anyone's time, but my favorite tracks are "Color Green" and "Feels So Good". Mr. Butler, you out did yourself! Bravo!

One of Jonathans best works, Excellently written and sung by none other than JB himself, not to mention his amazing guitar skills. This is one for the consumate collector!

If you are a Jonathan Butler fan, if you are a jazz fan, if you are a music fan, if you are an enjoy things fan, don't miss out on this CD.

Nothing really stands out on this CD. Butler's work on "Do you love me" has energy and life, you hear it and feel it. This project, while packed with vocals, is Johnathan for sure, but the lyrics seem sophomoric. I've never thought of this artist as a strong vocalist, "So Strong" dose nothing to dissuade my opinion. In fact, this CD would have been more interesting as an instrumental or collaboration, with other artists preforming most of the vocals (no chance of that). If you love Johnathan Butler, well, you'll be content with this CD and you'll buy it. For the rest of us, I would suggest investing in Norman Brown's new CD "Sending My Love". Butler, is always worth a look.

Let me start off by saying jonathan butler is indeed one awesome guitar player with style and technic. but I find this cd to have too many vocals and not enough instrumentals.


I've collected just about everything he's got and needless to say this one by him is my least favorite. Dispite this cd being mostly vocals, I find factual and feels so good to be the two best songs on here. All the instrumentals sounds very smooth and sensual, but it's just not enough.


Above everything he has made DO YOU LOVE ME still tops out to be his best ever. The 12th track I pay respect is a beautiful ballet to play on that special date to that special mate, and I can play that song along with him on my oscar schmidt guitar. four star rating. Would've recieve five stars if only for more instrumentals.
