4.0 out of 5 stars Not a music nerd
Ok, so this isn't everybody's style. All I can say is- listen to the previews- if you like it, you'll love the cd. If you don't like the previews, don't expect to hear anything different on the album. I LOVE this cd- these sexy babes are young and mouthy. The producers have mixed styles and sounds in a way that is playful and professional- no one is taking this too...

The Brooklyn trio Fannypack, with help from beatmasters Matt Goias and Fancy, make cartoon hip-hop aimed straight at the mallrats. Unlike their more educated sisters of Long Islands Northern State, these girls definitely the right description keep the rhymes light and playful. 4.0 out of 5 stars Finally! Booty Music Makes A Comeback!, July 14, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: So Stylistic (Audio CD)
I have been waiting for the return of fun rap music (aka "booty" music), for ages and it's finally happened! Fannypack somehow produced a record that feels old, but fresh at the same time and it's great! Every song is danceable and on this type of record, that's really all that counts! The only low point of the cd would be the song "Things", which sticks out like a sore thumb mainly because its subject matter seems a little too young for these girls to be singing about. Just skip "Things" and the cd seems to flow together much better. Also, don't miss the hilarious interstitials between some of the songs. Bravo, Fannypack! Booty is Back... but did it ever really go away?

5.0 out of 5 stars Bringin' it back full circle, July 10, 2003
This review is from: So Stylistic (Audio CD)
This album brings back the lyrics and beats that used to make rap music fun. Every song keeps you on your toes, starting out in one direction and sometimes making a 180 degree turn into another entirely original creation. Its not often to hear something today where _every_ track is worth listening to. From the synth beats of the title track, to the thumps of Hey Mami, "So Stylistic" is the hottest thing this summer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Ridiculous. Awesome., June 9, 2004

I rarely delve into the "dance" section of the record store, but Fannypack gave a me good reason to change my ways. With thumping bass, sparce sampling, and screetchy, sophomoric lyrics, this all girl rap trio takes me back to the late 80s when 2 Live Crew and "Push It" era Salt 'N Pepa rocked the airwaves. While songs like Cameltoe ("she had a frontal wedgie -- a cameltoe") are so absurd they seem like Saturday Night Live material, the group's jump rope rapping style is so infectious that the music bears repeated listening. Of the Amazon samples, "Hey Mami" and "Cameltoe" represent the best Fannypack has to offer. If you enjoy those songs and don't find "Do It to It" too frenetic, you'll probably want this album for your next house party.

If you were born in the 80's , you will 'get' this album. THe funny thing is, I am not sure if the singers themselves are old enough to get it at all. Nevertheless, it brings back fond memories of old NY rap and funk. It is a borderline comedy album as well....not intentionally I am sure!

Unlike their more educated sisters of Long Islands Northern State, these girls definitely the right description keep the rhymes light and playful. Their call to arms on the intro is Lets get famous!, and theyre doing just that with the irresistibly goofy single Camletoe. Nothing deep; nothing groundbreaking. Just the perfect late summer shopping soundtrack. If you can resist a couplet as stupid as Fix yourself girl, you got a cameltoe, youre a better man than me.

4.0 out of 5 stars FUN DEBUT, November 19, 2003

"SO STYLISTIC" is the debut of the new york trio FANNYPACK. In the same vain as L'TRIMM and J.J. FAD the group comes with a banging cd of fun, silly, booty-bass rap music. The hilarious first single "CAMELTOE" and "THEME FROM FANNYPACK" get things rolling. They are definitely the stand outs.

The banging "SYSTEM BOOMIN'", "SMACK IT UP", and "BROOKLYN PUBLIC" are also dancy pop winners. This is one of the sleepers of the year and is one of the top cds this year. They are in a class by themselves right now and that means with fresh beats and goofy rhymes they can only get better!

These girls put the fun and humor back in music. The beats are tight, and it just makes you want to shake your arse.

A throwback to the 80's when JJ Fad, and L'Trimm reigned supreme on the dancefloor.

This album is amazing. Fannypack comes straight outta Brooklyn and kick us in the head with amazing electro booty beats and funny, have a good time lyrics. Pure fun. A rap dance original. This album will be considered a classic down the road like Licensed To Ill by The Beastie Boys. Buy this now and dance your {hiney} off.
