5.0 out of 5 stars Another great read
This is the second book I've read of Troy Taylor, the first being "Confessions of a Ghost Hunter". I loved both books. The stories are very well documented and I must say how impressed I am with the work done in research, something often lacking in other books. Having said that, I did find some of the history a bit too long and just wanted to get to the current...

3.0 out of 5 stars deeper than I expected
Troy Taylor has been around the paranormal scene for a long time, and I'm fairly familiar with his Web site, but this is the first of his books that I've read. It's a good introduction.

Although the investigative information is pretty standard, I was very impressed with Taylor's dissection of The Myrtles myth and his other deeper research into traditionally...

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great read, September 19, 2007

This is the second book I've read of Troy Taylor, the first being "Confessions of a Ghost Hunter". I loved both books. The stories are very well documented and I must say how impressed I am with the work done in research, something often lacking in other books. Having said that, I did find some of the history a bit too long and just wanted to get to the current investigation! I enjoyed the chapter on "Hunting for Hoaxes" which shows that legends about hauntings aren't always true.

The whole book was very interesting, funny and downright freaky at times. I would love to be on some of his investigations. Troy has a talent for telling a story (as does Len Adams co-author). I was sad when the book was done, but have ordered two more of his books and hope they are as entertaining.

There weren't quite as many typo's as in "Confessions" and not nearly as many "As I said before". The font is small and is hard on the eyes, late at night - which is the best time to read a good ghost story. If you every read these reviews Troy, try a slightly larger font in furture books.

A great read and highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Lots of history, January 9, 2007

This review is from: So, There I Was... (Paperback)
This book was interesting if you are passionate about the paranormal but it also lends itself to those passionate about the history of the places it describes. Mr. Taylor spends lots of time and pages detailing the history leading up to the ultimate hauntings. His style is conversational; a good read.

Although the investigative information is pretty standard, I was very impressed with Taylor's dissection of The Myrtles myth and his other deeper research into traditionally haunted sites -- and how legends get perpetuated.

I'd like to see him do a book just on America's biggest allegedly haunted sites, including the Winchester Mansion, Queen Mary and others.

3.0 out of 5 stars Lots of Research, Small Print, October 8, 2009

This review is from: So, There I Was... (Paperback)
The book was supposed to be about how those who hunt ghosts are sometimes afraid. Eh... not really. The book itself was decently written, but the history of each location was rather long and boring (in my opinion), and then each story was mostly about what happened to each investigator/tour guide, etc. Yes, sometimes each person was afraid, but sometimes not.

The font used to print of the book is a small font, so be warned.

All in all, not sorry I read it, but probably won't buy another from this author as I'm not interested in long histories of each location. A short condensed version would suffice.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good stories, but a little too wordy, October 2, 2008
This review is from: So, There I Was... (Paperback)
The stories and the information in this book are interesting. But in typical Troy Taylor fashion the book is very wordy, which sometime makes it difficult to read. Overall, I really enjoyed this book!
