Book Description

December 5, 1995
Maggie Ramsay was alone, homeless, and widowed with three children. In desperation, she agreed to marry Adrian Mackinnon, a California timber baron she'd never met. He wanted a jewel to his crown, but what he got was a fearless woman who won the hearts of every man at camp and tackled a business no ordinary woman would dare. Then, to her surprise, Maggie found herself in love with her husband. But the closer she got to Adrian's aching heart, the harder he pushed her away. He was determined to prove he needed no one--until greed and passion threatened all he owned, and he was faced with a choice no man should ever have to make....

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! What a heroine! What tension! What a story!, July 1, 1998
By A Customer
This book is not your usual run-of-the-mill mail-order-bride story. Adrian, the hero is a twin to the hero in Angel in Marble, and he's in love with his brother's wife. When he gets a brother in Scotland to find him a wife, he wants a virgin. He gets Maggie, a widowed Scot with 3 kids. Talk about conflict! First he learns she was married before and almost loses it, then the 3 kids show up on his doorstep! But, it doesn't take Maggie or the children long to teach him what love is. The descriptions of California & the lumbering empire will make you think you've been there. You'll be treated to some delightful characters and a style of writing you will love.

By A Customer
You'll be cheering for the hero & heroine to get together from their first meeting! This book is so full of emotion and tension, you'll want to read it straight through. Once again, Elaine Coffman packs a book full of unforgettable characters. You'll love the two aunts in this one. You'll be hooked from the beginning as you watch the hero and heroine to overcome the pain of their past and learn to trust again. A beautiful story.
