5.0 out of 5 stars Best seller! January 1, 2013
How refreshing is it to read the truth after suffering through simplistic, patronizing career and life guides. SO WHAT IF I'M 65 is in another category. I connected to it immediately. I felt that it was written for me and about me, and that Bob Weinstein understood my frustration, despair, and desperation about suffering close to two years of job rejections. And they were jobs I was more than qualified for. The reasons I was rejected? It wasn't my credentials, interview or people skills or my attitude. It was because I was 70. By American standards, that's old. It was ageism and age discrimination. But I couldn't prove it. Organizations are not about to fess up to the truth and say that they hire only young bodies, and reject old ones. Weinstein cuts through all the doublespeak and puts the age issue on the table. I read SO WHAT IF I'M 65 in under two hours. It was truly a redemptive experience because I not only felt that I wasn't alone, but there was someone who not only understood what I was going thru, but who had experienced the same kind of rejection and feelings of despair until he figured out what was happening and saw himself in a new light. And that new light felt empowering. A lot of older workers are not going to like what Weinstein tells them. But they're going to be different people because of it. They're not going to be ashamed or embarrassed because they couldn't slow the aging process and stay perpetually young. If willing to embrace the truth, they're going to feel proud of who they are, and they're going to start living life with a new sense of purpose -- embracing every day as another chance to achieve and accomplish. SO WHAT IF I'M 65 ought to be required reading for baby boomers.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lots of practical advice December 28, 2012

I really liked this book. It has lots of practical information and tips you can use in your job search. I'm 62 years old and feel like I have a lot more to offer an employer than at any point in my career. It's very frustrating that Corporate America doesn't see it this way. And I found out through this book that I'm not alone and have good reason to feel the way I do. But this book also taught me how to get past this frustration, take action, and actually find a job.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great at any age December 28, 2012
This book is helpful for anyone over the age of 40. Bob Weinstein writes about the importance of staying relevant, especially in an age where digital media and technological advances abound. This book prompted me to become active on LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter, not only to understand these forms of media, but as an important means of networking for future job opportunities. Mr. Weinstein takes an honest look at how society views age. It's both disturbing and enlightening, but ultimately an honest and helpful view of how older workers have to work hard to remain attractive in today's workforce.
