5.0 out of 5 stars So who do you think you are? Smart if you get this book!, May 23, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: So, Who Do You Think You Are?: Face Your Wounds, Heal Them and Change Your Life (Paperback)
David Pendlum's book is excellent! I was so pleased with his "common sense" approach to dealing with life goals and emotions that I've insisted that both of my teen agers sit down, read the text and follow the exercises. This is great stuff, based on a man's life experiences. Here's material that each person can use immediately and without the psycho-babble.

5.0 out of 5 stars Coming out of your shell, May 11, 2001

This review is from: So, Who Do You Think You Are?: Face Your Wounds, Heal Them and Change Your Life (Paperback)
Many of us go through life trapped in a real or imaginary shell. Dr. Pendlum takes us on a tour of self-inspection and introspection, walking us through a series of exercises that can help us dissect out of the shell those things we can manage, to lighten that load we self-impose. He helps us face deeply buried fears and to understand what is truly important and what simply doesn't matter. I think of myself as a "normal" person, but from Pendlum's book I regained a balance I had lost, a new sense of mission. I have bought another copy for a loved cousin who needs to understand how good and wonderful she really is, that she is not a failure in life, but indeed a great success. David Pendlum's success story is one to which we can all relate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Easy-to-read, active advice, October 7, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: So, Who Do You Think You Are?: Face Your Wounds, Heal Them and Change Your Life (Paperback)
Excellent, excellent! A book that activates your mind to help itself instead of spouting theory.

This book's unique feature is the exercise section at the end of each chapter. The exercises are designed to help connect the ideas in the book with life's challenges, whatever they may be. The book personally helped me to identify and work through some issues that have nagged me my entire adult life.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Great Resource for "Dealing the Cards You've Been Dealt", April 12, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: So, Who Do You Think You Are?: Face Your Wounds, Heal Them and Change Your Life (Paperback)
I picked up this book thinking that it was just another "self help" type book that might spur some inward thinking and self-analysis. Boy was I surprised! This book is for anyone who needs to deal with emotional baggage and get their thought processes back on track. The exercises at the end of each section are wonderfully therapeutic. I identified closely with a couple of the character profiles at the end. I find that I reflect on the common sense advice the book offers on a daily basis. The author's down-to-earth writing style was refreshing because it does not require the reader to spend additional time deciphering the terminology -- as many of these type of books do! I recommend it highly!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! For the whole family!, February 6, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: So, Who Do You Think You Are?: Face Your Wounds, Heal Them and Change Your Life (Paperback)
I saw this book in the bookstore and thought it would be a fun read. It was incredible! For once, the author doesn't pretend to be all-knowing and tells it like it is. I really got a lot out of the discovery exercises and can't wait to have my husband and kids read this. My sister is always reading these books too and it'll be great for her to finally get one with ideas she can use.

5.0 out of 5 stars So True, So Helpful..., May 17, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: So, Who Do You Think You Are?: Face Your Wounds, Heal Them and Change Your Life (Paperback)
I've spent many years blaming society for my problems. I read this book and realized that I had to take responsibility for my life. No one was going to give me what I wanted on a silver platter. I now know that I have the power to control my destiny. This book explained it in a simple way that didn't speak down to me either. This is a really helpful guide!
