Editorial Reviews

Review

"Everything you've always wanted to know about becoming a stunt performer. A very informative, well written, easy to read book with step-by-step instructions on getting you started in the business of stunts." --Adriane Polo, Producer/Director

From the Publisher

In his 96-page book, So You Wanna Be a Stuntman: The Official Stuntman's Guidebook, Mark Aisbett passes on the knowledge of a 12-year career as a stunt performer to up-and-coming stuntmen (and women).

The book is thoughtfully written, presented in an easy to understand style and packed full of information useful in the real world of stunt performing. Chapters include training, acting, padding and equipment, resume building, getting work, set etiquette, mental preparation and much more.Aisbett has also included checklists in the book which serve to better prepare anyone who wants to be a stuntman. Checklists include how to prepare for an audition and a performers etiquette on set.

Included in the book are anecdotes that give the reader a feeling of what a day in the life of a stuntman is really like.

Two of the most interesting chapters are Mental Preparation and The Seven Steps to Ensure Success, both full of advice on stunt performing, but equally useful in everyday life.

Aisbett also breaks down the way stunt performers are paid in both the United States and Canada in a way that can be easily understood.

A chapter on contacting and joining unions and a glossary of industry jargon complete the book.

Aisbett is not only passing on a career's worth of knowledge with his first book, he is also ensuring the success of future stunt performers with it.

1.0 out of 5 stars So You Wanna Be a Stuntman: The Official Stuntman's Guideboo, March 26, 2004

This review is from: So You Wanna Be a Stuntman: How to break into the worlds toughest business (Paperback)
Although this book sounded very promising, I did not receive the benefits that it promised. It seemed that the writer may have been rushed to get this book published. This is unfortunate. I would not ask for my money to be returned, however I also would not recommend the book to anyone. I don't think this "book" has the right to be called "The Official Stuntman's Guidebook". Sorry, but you'd be better off looking elsewhere for advice.

5.0 out of 5 stars good work - good book, July 9, 2003

This review is from: So You Wanna Be a Stuntman: How to break into the worlds toughest business (Paperback)
This is a very good book and a very good Stuntman, but I think this is not all Information about the Working Stuntman. The writer say not all details about the situation. This is more a introduction, but not a really manual. I Recommend this book, but recommend also to read the Book "Stunts-Anleitung für wahre Filmhelden" ISBN: 3-936497-00-1. A combination from this two books, are the perfect guide.
