Model Advice,
This review is from: So, You Want to Be a Fashion Model? (Paperback)
Unlike other highly entertaining fictional reports of both the fashion and publishing industries, this book provides a realistic view into the fashion industry from the vantage point of the model, and focuses on the needs and expectations of aspiring models. As a fashion editor, fashion faculty member and author, as well as having known Mrs. Rothschild Moellers for nearly 10 years and seeing her work with "new faces," I highly recommend this book to all young hopefuls and their parents. "So, You Want to Be a Fashion Model" contains sage advice as well as a reality check of the business of fashion modeling. - Merri Grace McLeroy

This review is from: So, You Want to Be a Fashion Model? (Paperback)
I purchased four or five books on modeling to try to understand the industry, and this one was the most useful. My son was picked up by a top male agency almost two years ago and has yet to get one paying job. Making money in modeling has the same odds as winning the lottery. You have to go on many, many castings, that take time and transportation costs, only to be rejected 99% of the time, which only means you weren't right for what they wanted. It can be exhausting and demoralizing and may take several years to get off the ground. Get an education and do modeling on the side. You know you have what the industry is looking for if a top (legit) agency asks you to sign a contract with them. Check out models.com for listings of the top agencies in NY. Which is another thing, you pretty much have to live in NY to make it work. Not for the faint of heart.
