Nope. Single player only. The only online portion of this is uploading your main pawn for others to hire in the Rift. And you can hire other people's main pawns from the Rift. But they're controlled by the AI. So yeah you're still playing by yourself. The benefit of people using your pawns is that they come back with new items and/or knowledge of quests/enemies so they are better prepared for such situations when you face them.

It's simple. You do 100 damage to dragon, the dragon on all other games for all other people loses 100 health. Whoever lands the final blow gets a huge reward, everyone else who did any damage gets a reward also, not as huge.
hehe. Given that your own personal chances of landing that hit are similar to winning a lottery, yeah. I've been through that kind of thing before, as has anyone who's played FFXI, hoping to get in that first hit on over-camped Notorious Monsters. You might get that lucky hit in your first few minutes, or not get it at all over the course of 2 years. Personally, yeah. I call this dumb. :p
