5.0 out of 5 stars Soberanias Exitosas
I am very delighted with the purchase of this book.By the way, I bought two, one for my husband and another for a gift.It is very interesting since we are from Puerto Rico and it gives us many examples of how can we follow these models of soberanity to become one of them.

3.0 out of 5 stars STATEHOOD IS THE BEST MODEL
This book gives us some examples of "soberanías exitosas" that Puerto Rico should follow.
The first one is Ireland. For several years, the low-tax environment did lure all kinds of companies to set up shop in Ireland. But when the economy went sour, many of them left or cut back drastically, putting people out of work and denting government revenue. Now,...

I just read this book, it's amazing! It makes you think about the politics and different ways to improve the island of Puerto Rico, which is a beautiful island. I will definitely read the book again and tell all of my friends

Outstanding review of successful and viable economic models for an independent Puerto Rico. Examining what these distinct nations did, the author presents (via excerpts from his radio interviews) these models as an example of what Puerto Rico might become if independent and sovereign.

I found this book to be very engaging and engrossing, and is required reading for all pro-independence or pro-associated republicans. I literally could not put this book down and found it interesting to compare nations from all parts of the world that have applied distinct strategies to their newly independent nations and thrived to create auto-sufficiency and economic stability. A must-read for all Puerto Ricans.

3.0 out of 5 stars STATEHOOD IS THE BEST MODEL, November 25, 2010
This review is from: Soberanias Exitosas: Seis modelos para el desarrollo economico de Puerto Rico (Spanish Edition) (Paperback)
Now, lenders are pressuring the government to raise taxes so it can pay back the money it borrowed to maintain spending deficits exacerbated by low tax revenue. Ireland's economy shrank 7.1 per cent last year and remains in recession. Signs of the downturn are everywhere. Dublin's main shopping area is full of for-rent signs and handwritten posters in store windows advertising special one-day sales. Those that are emigrating this "soberania exitosa" are desperate for a paycheck. Others are just disgusted that Ireland should find itself in such a state, and they fear they will be paying for years, through tax increases and pay cuts. The latest moves to shore up Ireland's economy follow more than two years of harsh austerity measures by the government. Taxes have been raised and salaries cut for nurses, professors and other public workers by up to 20 per cent. This month, the government announced that an additional $6-billion (U.S.) would need to be cut from the budget next year. Experts say about 65,000 people left Ireland last year, and some estimate that the number may be more like 120,000 this year. At first, most of those leaving were immigrants returning home to Central Europe. But increasingly, the experts say, it is the Irish themselves who are heading out, unsure that they will ever come home. As this country struggles with its newest financial crisis, it seems set to watch yet another generation scatter across the globe to escape desperate times. Many are headed to Australia, where a mining boom has produced construction jobs in the western part of the country. But others are going to Canada, New Zealand, the United States, Britain and even the Middle East or Asia.
It seems that the recommendation for Puerto Rico by Mr. Collado, is not the best alternative. Statehood is the way.
