The Queen of Merengue.,
By
This review is from: Sobrevivir (Audio CD)
It's undeniable that she's the queen of merengue. After 9 hit albums, Grammy awards, Billboard awards, #1 hits and Gold, Platinum and Multi-Platinum albums she gets back on the charts."Sobrevivir" is an excellent album with lots of rythm, mixing all the way through the album dance songs and ballads. The first single, "asi es la vida" toped the US charts and in several territories. Olga's voice is unique she has an incredible strengh when she sings and she really can make you dance. This album has been certified Gold only 3 weeks after its release.

Olga Pleases Again,

Olga Tañon delivers her 10th album. This album followsup to her Grammy Winning Album "Yo Por Ti". This album does not have as much merengue, (only two songs do) but does hold to the Latin rythms. She goes through flamenco, ballads, tango and dance. Olga's strong voice holds the songs in place. The ballads are the album are mostly very meaningful. She is still not one to disappoint.

An album worth listening to.,
By
This review is from: Sobrevivir (Audio CD)
After 2001's Yo Por Ti, Olga Tanon returns with this new album called "Sobrevivir" which features 6 ballads and 5 midtempo and uptempo songs. Overall the album is not better but just as good as Yo Por Ti. It features the lone merengue song "Por Tu Amor" which is one of my favorite songs on the album as well. One thing I did notice about the album is that Olga's voice sounds way better than in Yo Por Ti. Other notably worthy songs on this album are, "Caramelo", "Beso A Beso", "Ojos Negros", "Asi Es La Vida", "Sobrevivir" and "A Partir De Hoy".

Dynamic!,

In top voice and the songs are snappy. In the past she's had so-so material when singing ballads. Here, they are as strong as her voice. Best Cuts: Mentiras, Caramelo, Beso A Beso, Ojos Negros, No Podras and Sobrevivir. If you're just starting out with Olga, this is a non disappointer!

Great Album but not her best,
By
This review is from: Sobrevivir (Audio CD)
Olga's voice is proven to sound good in any type of music. But my favorite is still Merengue. I wanted more merengues in this album. I just got one, but they other up-tempo tropical songs really makes this a great CD. Can't wait for her next one, in the meanwhile I'll put this one on fire for listening it 2 much. It's for sure Olga is the Puerto Rican Diva of all time.

very talented artist and band,
This review is from: Sobrevivir (Audio CD)
i bought this cd and totally love it! olga tanon has a great voice and is very talented. the band that accompanies her is also masterful, skilled and utterly precise. together, olga and the band make every second of every song pleasurable for the listener. even someone who does not speak or understand spanish is going to find themselves jamming to this cd. if one were to ask me how i would classify the sound of this cd, i would say that this cd's sound is a "tex-mex" type but not contrite or banal. it is basically "tex-mex" done right. also, the amount of songs on this cd and their length make it a very good economic value. i would recommend this cd to everyone. go buy it and enjoy! p.s. be advised that if you give this cd as a gift, you may find yourself getting "candy kisses," -- so remember, Ten cuidado!

Olga Gets Better,
By
This review is from: Sobrevivir (Audio CD)
After deviating from her original merengue style, it seemed unclear whether Olga Tanon would release an album that appealed to a wide array of listeners. But this CD is adaptable to many varieties, and it is certainly a worthy purchase. Not as good as the albums she released later, Sobrevivir is still a must have for fans for tropical music.

This album is difrent, fresh with new sounds, mixing flamenco and ballads and merengue I think that is a great album since the 1998's Te Acordaras de Mi. I have all of Olgas Albums and i just love the surprising mixtures she does with each album, is good to have varieties but she is still the number 1 Puerto Rican merenguera these days, I love her....i can't wait for the next one...Olga is defenitly a Diva....pa' lante!! viva Olga...
