With the World Cup coming in 2010, I, like many people (mostly Americans, I imagine), was looking for a book that was a well-written overview of soccer (football), something that covered not only how the sport is played, but also its history, tradition, and championships. I found that book! Goldblatt, author of "The Ball is Round", offers up a fantastic introduction to the game for new fans like me. Based on the depth of information offered, I imagine that even veteran fans of the sport will find something to like here.

Amazing pictures and information. Could use it to coach or to learn about the history of the sport.

This book was recommended to my husband by my daughter's soccer coach. It is an excellent book and the price I got it for on here was a steal. I would highly recommend it.

I got hooked on football and bought this book to learn about the sport. This has it all: history, leagues, rules, stars, you name it. If you want to start watching soccer and you want a course in football 101, look no further.

This was a Christmas gift for my grandson who is 15. He loves it! I was very pleased with the quality of the book and the contents.
