This is a great book for offering information on all things gerontology for social work. It provides some interesting physiological info on things like cataracts, alzheimer's disease, and dementia that are essential for all social workers to know. I highly recommend purchasing this book!

While much of the information is interesting, the read is often laborious.

This sentence of theirs sums it up:

"The human skin is unique among that of all other mammals in that it is exposed directly to the elements, with no protective fur or feathers to shield it from the direct effects of sunlight."

"skin is unique among that of all other" "among that of...in that it..." Say what that that?

"shield it from the direct effects of sunlight" how about simply protected from the sun.

Never mind "of all other mammals...with...feathers..." about which none come to mind.

I hate this textbook!! I have to use it for my gerontology class or I wouldn't touch it. The book is laid out very poorly. Most of all, it is simply very hard to read. There are notable terms and quotes that are in Italic, but they are so hard to read with the font they have chosen. The entire book is in black and white, so I'd have to use a highlighter and damage the textbook if I wanted to make the text more noticeable. Plus, the index leaves out studies, researchers, etc. I've use several textbooks over the years, but this one is simply horrible. I'll be thrilled to get rid of it.

I ordered the 9th edition, as listed on my invoice and order, but I was sent the 5th edition. Bummer, because I need it for a class TODAY. The package arrived prior to promised date, which I was pleased, just wish it was the correct order. Now I have to wait until I get a credit of 78$, and then I can afford to buy the book AGAIN!

This book came in perfectly new condition as promised by the seller. It also arrived in a very short amount of time!

I ordered this textbook 1/6/11 afternoon. The textbook was delivered to my home 1/8/11 am. This was three days before it was ever scheduled to arrive. Will definitely order from this site again. 5 stars.

This text is required for a course I am enrolled in at Old Dominion University as a Distance Education student. My instructor has Ph.D. and this is the text he chooses for the course (must say something).

Product arrived in a timely manner. The book is actually much better written than I expected and is very up to date. While I was not pleased with the price tag, I have been very pleased with the product.
