About the Artist

Left Front Tire's music is the sound of combustible youth, the impending chaos of punk rock, and the sing-along melody of pop. Earning a rep as a high-energy live band, Left Front Tire grabbed the attention of punk-pop fans and the music industry throughout the Southeast. This reputation led to performances for huge crowds at Atlanta radio station 99X’s “Big Day Out” and Music Midtown. In 2001, Left Front Tire's song "Bring You Down" off 2000 release, Social Icon, was added as the third track on the American Pie 2 soundtrack just behind Blink 182 and Green Day and before the likes of Uncle Kracker, American Hi-Fi and Alien Ant Farm. In late 2001, 99X added the single to their rotation.

Product Description

Left Front Tire’s “Social Icon” was released in October of 2000 on the band’s own Gladiator Record. Described as the sound of four schoolmates brought up with the impending chaos of punk rock ringing in their ears but grounded by the sensible melody of pop music. It is the sound of combustible youth and years of experience in the same hook filled riff. Produced by Rick Beato of the Atlanta rock band Billionaire, Left Front Tire’s songs are ready made for modern rock radio, with a high energy all it’s own that sounds ready to take on the world. The 10 original songs on the band’s second record (the 11th track being a barn burning take on the Hank Williams JR. anthem “Country Boy Can Survive”) show off this young group’s highly evolved song crafting, effortlessly gliding from punk-pop song structure with riff-rock inspired guitar work to soaring three part harmonies. The music they make is an enjoyable ride; a power popping roller coaster that is over before you know it, but packed with hooks and melodies that linger in your brain for days. Northeast Georgia’s Left Front Tire formed back in 1992, when the average age of the band member was 13 years old. Left Front Tire has remained a band, playing grade school gigs in Georgia’s Habersham County; honing their sound and live show seven years in the making. “Social Icon” will be originally released via Red Eye Distribution on October 24th, 2000.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perdy good pop punk, December 21, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Social Icon (Audio CD)
These guys are from my my home town in habersham georgia so i think i should be able to write a good review. if you live in the atlanta area youve heard of these guys from 99X, or maybe you have the american pie 2 soundtrack. this is a good cd it gets old after a while but what cd doesnt. of course youve heard "bring you down" from the pie 2 soundtrack, and if you havent heard it you should its a good song. other stand out tracks are "therapy", "the general public" and "country boy can survive" which is one of the best covers ive ever heard. chips vocals are great and are very catchy. all in all i'd say pick this cd up before they get big so you can say you were a fan from the beginning.

4.0 out of 5 stars The most overlooked pop punk band out there, November 3, 2001
This review is from: Social Icon (Audio CD)
After seeing American Pie 2, I knew I had to check out the soundtrack. My friend got to it before me, and we both listened to it. A few tracks stood out, but the one that stood out the most was the energenic "Bring You Down" by a band called Left Front Tire. It was a very catchy track, and was very appealing to everyone I played it for. So, after a long game of trying to track this cd down, I finally found it. Overall, I say I'm pleased with it, even with it's flaws, this is an overall fun cd to play and listen to alone and with friends.

There's a lot of good stuff on this cd. My personal favorite is "Who Do You Touch", which is a medium paced track with an excellent melody. My other favorites are "Bring You Down" "The General Public", "She's too Fast", "There You Are and Here I Go", and "Beauty the Stars". All the songs are good though. However, that leads to the main problem with the cd. The repititon. The songs here are repetitive, they aren't bad, but they are repetitive. Otherwise, there really isn't too much of a problem with the cd.

Left Front Tire isn't a very popular band, but they are quite good. If you like bands like the Ataris, you'll be certain to like this band. Pick up the cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Left Front Tire is my new favorite band..., February 22, 2001

This CD came out of nowhere to be one of my favorites in recent memory. Why this band isn't massive, I don't know. Far better than most of their contemporaries in punk / pop, Left Front Tire is more rocking and more rewarding than most of the music on the radio. "Therapy" is godhead, and there really isn't a weak cut on this record. If they ever come to California, I am going to sell my Blink 182 and SR-71 records back, buy a ticket to their show and ask if I could roadie for them for the next year or so.
