5.0 out of 5 stars The best social PR Secret? Buy this book. December 8, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I read marketing books with a highlighter in case I find anything that I didn't already know or could use in my business or with my clients. I count myself lucky if I get 1 or 2 good tips per chapter.

In this book, I got (on average) 2-3 good, actionable tips PER PAGE.

(I am an Internet marketing professional since 1996 focused mainly on the SEO side of things. I am the author of Drupal 6 SEO which you can find here on Amazon.)

A few highlights:
---
The vast majority of today's journalists use search engines such as Google and social media networks as a story research tool to either begin, confirm, or fact-check stories. With that in mind it's advantageous to optimize your news stories with keywords, tags, and links so the media can find you when researching on search and social.

Getting Social with the Media
* Identify the social networks for your target media: where are they hanging out and what are they talking about or interested in?
* Follow them spark up an online conversation.
* Interact and even collaborate with the media.
* Share their stories.
* Leave comments on stories and blogs.
* Update all your media lists with the social networks IDs.

Social PR Secret: Create a social media list dashboard using a platform such as Tweetdeck or Hootsuite that enables you to see at a glance the social news stream of what is happening with the media you follow.

Social PR and Media Relation Sources
* Newsle: Newsle tracks friends and alerts you when they're mentioned in news articles and blog posts.
* PitchEngine: combines the best of social, visual, video and mobile worlds to make it easier to get the word out in a social pitch, not just to the media, but also your customers.

5.0 out of 5 stars True to its title October 6, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Social PR Secrets is literally a diary full of tools, tactics and tips from inside the PR world. The book is true to the title from start to finish.

I was amazed by just how actionable this book is. It's not a fluffy story about the history of PR going social as much as a how-to guide on how to use web 2.0 to power your PR efforts.

I enjoyed it, and would recommend it to anyone looking to wrap their head around the digital PR world.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is How I Wish Every PR Pro Was Trained October 1, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I've worked with hundreds of people who proclaimed to know PR and even more who are trying to be social media experts. Seldom am I impressed that they know how the two have become intertwined and rarely do I find experience, knowledge and the wisdom to use it all in one package.

I know Lisa Buyer is one of those that manages to keep up with all the changes and trends. In "Social PR Secrets" she reveals how she has done it. Reading her story about seeing a new trend, learning and implementing it for the benefit of her clients was inspiring.

And as if this were't enough reason to buy and and read this book, she has found room to fill it with up to date, actionable (links included) "how to" checklist and resource guides.

If I were hiring a PR pro, I would insist they study and know this book.

Social Media thumbs up! This book is definitely the secret to any marketing and PR professional, as Lisa states in her book, social PR arsenal. The main reason I love this book is that it's efficient. You can highlight and go back to all the organized data easily. She's transparent, sharing all of the information you always wish the head of marketing would hand to you. It's like a bite-sized book of all the PR and social media goodies to promote your business organically in tweetable bytes. I'm a huge fan of Lisa's and am so glad she finally wrote a book so I don't have to copy and paste all of her articles and blogs into my bookmarks. Great price! Can't wait till the hard book cover comes out.
