5.0 out of 5 stars Easy to understand and well written
I'm a senior at BYU and I found this text extremely well written. It is filled with interesting examples and cartoons that explain the concepts very well. I also really liked the layout of the pages of the book (the text is in the middle and the outer edges contained the important concepts and definitions). This is one of the few textbooks I've ever read that I enjoyed...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good book, lousy CD-ROM and Study Guide
I'm using this textbook to teach an undergraduate introductory course. The text is engaging and interesting. I sometimes wonder about the organization of the chapters, though - it often seems a bit disjointed.

As others have written, the CD-ROM is almost unusable. It will not run straight from the CD-ROM as it should on Windows XP - you need to hack into it...

Simply the best psychology book I've read. Fascinating and thoroughly documented. Entertaining and filled with humour as well. Lots of real life examples and applications.

For a graduate class, nobody looks forward to the boring textbook. This book, however, is very user friendly...I actually enjoyed it!

I'm using this textbook to teach an undergraduate introductory course. The text is engaging and interesting. I sometimes wonder about the organization of the chapters, though - it often seems a bit disjointed.

As others have written, the CD-ROM is almost unusable. It will not run straight from the CD-ROM as it should on Windows XP - you need to hack into it by forcing your CD-ROM drive to show the files (right click, "browse..."), then choosing one of the .htm or .html files (I think "browser_check.html" was the one I succesfully used) to get it to function a little. Then you MIGHT be able to see the videos for each chapter - but even there, Quicktime often crashes. (I suspect the CD-ROM has not been updated for about 4 versions of Quicktime.) From what I could see from the videos, they are not terribly useful anyway, and I am not using them in my class - there is PLENTY of material on Youtube for this purpose.

The Study Guide is only useful if you plan on memorizing each chapter word for word - some of the questions are ridiculously specific, and I would never, as an instructor, expect students to know this level of detail from the text.

Oh, and the author does not even attempt to hide his liberal bias. Just ignore it (if you need to) and learn from his extensive knowledge.

I bought this book for my sociology of interaction class, an I must say that I am enjoying it. The CD-ROM and the publisher's website are very helpful for my class, and the videos are actually interesting! =) The links offered are also very helpful in finding extra information on certain subjects. No real complaints!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best, June 30, 2008
This review is from: Social Psychology with SocialSense Student CD-ROM (Hardcover)
This is the best text book I have ever used. For the first time I have found myself reading ahead to unassigned chapters. I want to note that I study sociology, not psychology (emphasizing the lack of bias) as this is more of a psychological discourse.

4.0 out of 5 stars Social Psychology with CD-ROM, November 30, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

The book was delivered on time even choosing the slower, free shipping option. The CD-ROM, however, hasn't worked. Perhaps it's incompatible with Vista, but it was a let down.
