1.0 out of 5 stars Well written exercise in rhetoric, but wholly unconvincing, March 22, 2001

This review is from: Socialism With a Human Face: The Political Economy of Britain in the 1980s (Hardcover)
This book partly succeeds as a workmanlike neo-Socialist tract, but with very little to add to an increasingly oversaturated area. What makes this particular book destined to become a perverse curio, however, is the flagrant hypocrisy of the author. Michael Meacher as a British Government Minister currently mired in a property scandal, whose actions seem to be directly at odds with his supposed ideological proposals. With this in mind, the book reads more as a parody or satire of the Left wing tradition it purports to be part of.
