Good for supplimentary study.,
By A Student "Examinee" (Philadephia,TN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sociology (Barron's EZ-101 Study Keys) (Paperback)
I used this book to help me study for the CLEP sociology test (which I passed this morning with a 76 out of 80) in addition to other materials that I had purchased. It is extremely comprehensive and very well laid out. The author has done a good job of explaining key concepts. I would highly recommend this for anyone who needs supplimentary material for a sociology course. However, I would not recommend using this book exclusively for studying for a CLEP exam. The sociology CLEP exam is an exam which covers a wide array of knowledge from sociological terms, to key sociological figures, to population statistics for America and other nations. It is a hard test to find all of the information that you will need for it. If you are planning to take the CLEP sociology exam, I would recommend reading this book, the REA CLEP Introducory Sociology (awesome!), and also a review of a textbook for the subject. You don't have to actually read the textbook, but I would review key terms, people, and statistics. This book was very helpful to me in studying for the test and it addressed some issues that I did not find information for in any other place. However, it does not discuss several key concepts that I found in a textbook and in other resources (including religion, bureacracies, and collective behavior) so don't use this exclusively for study.
