About the Author
Marshall B. Clinard is Professor Emeritus of Sociology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He has written numerous books and articles on deviance and sociology. He is widely considered to be one of the very best researchers on deviance and deviant behavior.
Robert F. Meier is Professor and Chair of the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He has held previous positions at Iowa State University, Washington State University, and the University of California at Irvine. He is the author or editor of 15 books, original and revised editions, and over 50 articles in professional journals. His scholarly interests include general processes of deviance and social control with a special interest in crime and crime-control policy. He has conducted research on a number of criminological topics, including theories of crime and victimization, forms of crime including white-collar crime, victimless crime, and rape, as well as the topics of deterrence, and legal processes.
