This review is from: The Sociology of Health and Illness (Paperback)
Book was needed for a college course but is a little hard to understand some of the language. Must better for a Graduate studies course.

Out of date,
By TowerMoose (La Jolla, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Sociology of Health and Illness (Paperback)
Although this text is well organized, has good introductions to the major sections, and includes many essential "classic" readings in the sociology of medicine, it is completely out of date.
Don't let the 2009 publication date fool you: the reading on AIDS stigma by Herek is from 1994 and the chapter on organ transplants by Kuttner is from 1987. Several of the readings about health care reform are similarly out of date. It's quite cynical, really. I have admired Peter Conrad's professional work in the field for a long time, but think less of him after he put his name on this product. |
