Editorial Reviews

From the Publisher

What a treat to work with Catherine Wingate and see these sock designs unfold. We’ve had fun merging our ideas about what would make a perfect sock pattern calendar for you. Catherine has provided a true variety of socks – there is something for everyone. Each pattern has an interesting stitch or design feature to appeal to the experienced, and yet be easy enough for a beginner to feel confident to try. Besides having great patterns for each month of the year, we hope The Sock Calendar will be your helpful companion at chair-side, or in the knitting bag, for keeping track of important dates, jotting down project notes, inspiring new sock-knitting projects and more. Thank you Catherine for the opportunity to step outside of my usual knitting designer role and publish your designs. Jackie Erickson-Schweitzer

From the Author

If you’re not a sock-knitter, you are in for a treat and may soon become part of the sock-knitting obsession. I was a confirmed non-sock-knitter until I found out what everyone else knew: Socks are truly fun to knit! Not to mention fast, thus appealing to those who also think that immediate gratification takes too long. Best of all, hand-knitted socks are luxuries and make bedazzling gifts. We hope that The Sock Calendar becomes your favorite journal and that the patterns inspire you to continue sock-knitting. As an aside, I’d like to acknowledge the global cyberknitting community and the amazing knitters who participate, share and encourage us all, among them Jackie Erickson-Schweitzer, whose designs were among the very first sock patterns I bought and knit. 5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful collection of easy designs, December 7, 2004
This review is from: The Sock Calendar: Socks for All Seasons (Paperback)
I bought this book before I'd ever knitted any socks. I didn't actually think that I could knit socks because most books make them seem so complicated. Not this one. It's a wonderful, friendly book and the patterns are clear and easy to follow. My daughter liked the pictures so much she's learned how to knit now too.
