5.0 out of 5 stars Great Scanning option
The Socket Brand CF scan cards work great for integrating barcode scanning capability into Pocket PCs.

Our company writes applications for Pocket PC and I recommend the CF scan cards with laser scanning capability over the CMOS imager (which are often $150-200 cheaper) as the CMOS imager seems to have more difficulty reading barcodes that are wrapped in...

1.0 out of 5 stars Save your money!
We bought this to use for scanning ISBN bar codes on books--what a disappointment! It won't read any bar codes which aren't PERFECT (that is, black ink on a clear background). Scanning over colored paper, through clear wrappers, or faded items simply WON'T work. Even perfect bar codes need several attempts. We have the Socket Scan 5P, and that works GREAT on all kinds of...

Our company writes applications for Pocket PC and I recommend the CF scan cards with laser scanning capability over the CMOS imager (which are often $150-200 cheaper) as the CMOS imager seems to have more difficulty reading barcodes that are wrapped in cellophane as well as reading UPCs in more difficult lighting conditions.

Socket makes a nice driver for the Pocket PC which will allow a user to assign a button on the PDA and begin scanning in MS applications like Word and Excel right away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great scanner, August 28, 2011

I use this scanner with my Dell Axim PDA, and it works great. The scanner is laser and a million times stronger, and better than a linear scanner.
This is the best scanner I have used so far. I scan a lot of media items and it never fails me. Even CD's and DVD's that are still on the shrink wrap it will scan the bar codes no problem.
A little pricey, but its worth every penny.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Product, January 7, 2010

I am very happy with the performance of this product. It has greatly improved the efficiency of my business. The scanner does a very good job of reading bar codes. It will even pick up just a sliver and slightly faded codes. I use this item with an HP PDA and it was easy to install and set up for 1-click scanning.

My only complaint is that the scanner does not come with a case/cover. A $300 piece of technology needs to come with a case or at least have third party options. My PDA came with a nice case, but I have to carry my combined PDA and scanner in a zip-lock bag to protect the scanner attachment...not much protection and not very attractive.
