Product Description

From the Manufacturer

Add GPS to Your Bluetooth-Enabled Pocket PC

If you have a Pocket PC or other device enabled with Bluetooth, now you can take advantage of your device's Bluetooth capability to wirelessly add GPS positioning technology.

Whether you're a traveler and need to navigate your journey, or whether you're field service worker and need to report your location, this is the perfect solution for you. It's great for both consumers and corporate users to benefit from themany positioning applications now available for Pocket PCs. Use it for vehicle tracking, marine navigation, aviation, topography or street-level navigation. If you have mobile Internet access, you can even combine GPS with online maps.

It’s easy to add Bluetooth functionality to a Pocket PC via Socket’s Bluetooth Connection Kit (SDIO or CompactFlash). Pair it with Socket’s Bluetooth GPS Receiver and a Bluetooth phone, and you can benefit from a real-time navigational system with access to maps on the Internet.

No Cards or Cables Means No Hassles

Before, adding GPS to a Pocket PC meant using an obtrusive GPS receiver or troubling with messy cords and antennas — reducing the portability of your Pocket PC. Besides adding bulk and weight to your Pocket PC, these solutions also consumed power from your Pocket PC. Plus you had to assemble the different gadgets every time you used them. Using Bluetooth to wirelessly add GPS eliminates all of these inconveniences.

No cables also means you can position the Bluetooth GPS Receiver for optimal satellite reception. You can keep the Bluetooth GPS Receiver in your coat pocket or on your dashboard while you use it — as long as there is a direct line of sight to the sky. This lets you devote your hands to using your Pocket PC or driving your vehicle, instead of juggling devices.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Product - Terrible Support, December 14, 2003
This review is from: Socket GP0804-405 Bluetooth Gps Receiver (Office Product)
As far as the product goes - this is incredible. Imagine something the size of a credit card and 1/4 inch thick being able to be tracked by a satellite. My Ipaq 2215 bonded quickly and effortlessly with this receiver - it was so easy to set up.

This was my first gps purchase, so obviously I had many questions. You have to register the product to ask a question via email and two weeks later - I still haven't received a reply to my questions.

For $150 more you can buy the nav pack - which the only difference is you get the software. I originally bought that but the maps weren't up-to-date so I returned it and bought this. I use MS MapPoint 2004 as my mapping software now and it works great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Better than expected, September 28, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Socket GP0804-405 Bluetooth Gps Receiver (Office Product)
Absolutely great! After charging the unit I turned it on to do a device discovery from my Ipaq 3970, that was it no other setup was needed (not even bonding like the manual says). I found that it was locked onto 8 Satellites inside the house and at least 20ft from any window. I would suggest this receiver to anyone.

Very nice product! Catches the satellites signals very quickly. I tried with iPAQ 5455 and 3955+Ambicom BT card and Pharos Ostia navigation system. Works perfectly fine. I am very happy with the product.
