Great Motherboard!!!!!,

This review is from: ASUS Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce SPP 100 ATX AMD Motherboard (A8N32-SLI Deluxe) (Personal Computers)
This is the best motherboard I have had experience using. Since I use mine for heavy gaming and video editing, the dual graphic card support comes in real handy for rendering video and game graphics. Not to mention the support of a raid SATA hard drive set up, which comes in handy with heavy video loads from my video editing. I am also very surprised at the quality of the built in sound card.
I have called support a few times for general information and with a few questions. Both times they were very helpful, patient and kind. I would recommend this great board to everybody thats into gaming, image editing, video editing, 3d editing and audio editing!

I'm not really sure what happened with the first reviewer of this board but ASUS is top notch quality boards. Honestly, if you are not sure what you're doing with a board like this in the first place, I would recommend sticking with Dell systems. There are countless available non-ASUS resources readily available around the net. There are many forums out there that have hundreds of thousands of members who help each other out with what settings to use, what BIOS versions are the most stable etc.
This motherboard is for the extreme over clocker in mind. Coming from the regular A8N-SLI Deluxe, it was a big step up as far as over clocking options are concerned. Not only that but this board is feature packed with nice passive cooling. It has more options that you could wish for. Again, great motherboard but if you aren't sure what you're doing, may I suggest sticking with a Dell or visiting one of the many great technical forums online.

Tne motherboard performed very well. I did not make any extreme use out of it.
But, once in a while, it would tend to not recognize the RAM, and I would get 4 beeps at post - it would not boot. Was only using 2x1GB sticks, and switching them to the two other channels did not solve the problem. When this happened, the best solution was to open the case and touch one of the sticks, and it would work well again. Cleaning the contacts on the sticks had no efect. I was kind of surprised to see this behavior. We have another Asus motherboard (A78N SLI DELUXE), of about the same price range, which is still going strong after 8 years of use and has never given any problems. Finally, after about two years and 8 months of use, it died. There was no power at all. The diagnostic LED would not even light up. I guess this might have been an odd board.

I am not a career computer builder but I have built several of my own machines over the years. The manual with this motherboard, by far, had the most clear documentation and install process of any I've seen.
The board was shipped with accessories including SATA cables, standard ATA133 IDE cables and more. Bios has lots of customization/tweak options for geeks (I am sometimes one) but works easily with a default install and letting settings auto set and auto detect. The board layout seemes to not have any "gotchas" like this cable blocks access to that slot/plug, etc. This purchase was to replace a malfunctioning motherboard. I used the same hard drives(Maxtor SATA160GB's), memory (corsair)and processor-- AMD 64 X2 3800 (not sure about the 3800). Using the serial ata raid stripe, I saw major performance improvements by just going to this motherboard and the sata raid stripe. I didn't realize that setting up raid for windows xp requires you have a "floppy disk" to give it the specific driver unless you slipstream it onto the xp install. I had to buy a floppy drive just for this, and made the driver disk from the included driver cd. Overall, a great product with desirable features, and great documentation.

Zero Support,

This is my third Asus mother board. All were great, manual was excellent and email support was swift. Now all of these reasons to buy asus are missing. Manual provides no assistance, zero. FAQ online, nothing. email for assistance, no reply. Asus user Forum, no help. Got all accomplished without assistance. Went to register .... and couldn't get that done, so I gave up on it. I've wasted 38 hours on account of missing basic information & support. My previous motherboards (ASUS) were well documented with excellent definitions of BIOS options, etc. Everything went smoothly. I expected the same excellent support from ASUS today, I didn't get it. No more Asus. Be ware.
