If you really want flavor in your SodaStream "fizzy water" as my grand children call it, you will use EXTRACTS instead. I buy orange and blackberry extracts by the 4 oz and 8 oz bottles available on Amazon at far lower prices than you can find in ANY grocery store. They taste MUCH BETTER than these insipid flavors. Use the same recommeded amounts, 1/2 teaspoon per little 1 liter bottle. It will cost you lots less and taste much better.

Flavor Name: Lemon Lime
We got the three-pack of all three flavors in an assortment with our SodaStream machine purchase. I just re-ordered the orange here (our favorite).

As SisiL78 said (previous review), you add the flavor after carbonating. You can adjust the flavor to be as strong or weak as you like, although it's definitely best to lightly flavor seltzer; we use it in place of purchasing Polar seltzer. The assortment right now includes orange, lemon-lime, and raspberry. Probably the company "upgraded" the berry to raspberry at some point.

We just purchased a set of glass eyedropper bottles to keep these in, since pouring is an imprecise method of dispensing the flavor, and my husband and I like our seltzer flavored differently (so we flavor by the glass, not the whole bottle). We also like one drop of raspberry with 2 drops of lemon-lime to simulate the raspberry-lime Polar flavor.

I'm glad they're stored in glass (to avoid the plastic-y taste a lot of beverages can have). Also, they aren't sweetened, which is very important to us. You have to be careful, some flavors say 'no artificial sweeteners', then end up containing splenda or stevia (since technically these are natural). We wanted flavorings with no sweeteners and these fit the bill for a good price. Now, if only they had more variety it would be perfect.

I drink a lot of flavored Talking Rain - tangerine, berry and lemon-lime. So I thought this set would be a great way to flavor plain carbonated water and get the same taste. I didn't want, nor was I expecting a lot of flavor...I like it to just taste like a piece of fruit was squeezed into my glass like the Talking Rains taste. These have about the same saturation of flavor - just a hint - but the flavor itself is awful. Although they say they are natural fruit essences, they sure don't taste like it. For example, Talking Rain tangerine tastes like you floated a slice of tangerine in your sparkling water...yummy and refreshing. SodaStream's Orange MyWater tastes like you poured a bit of orange soda into your sparkling water. Yuck. Watered down Orange Crush was not the taste I was going for. The berry and lemon-lime flavors have a similar effect. I don't know what they did to their "natural essences" but they screwed them up somehow. These are just plain awful and artificial-tasting.

I almost didn't order these once I started reading everyone's negative reviews. But, I said F it and got them anyway. They are delicious! All it takes is 2-3 drops per liter bottle, and it is just as yummy as any Poland Spring seltzer. They aren't meant to be sweet, exactly what I wanted. Also, it's nice that they come in tiny little glass bottles with screw tops. Love it!

To the review below. For starters you're supposed to add this flavoring to the soda AFTER carbonation. And this isn't going to be soda flavor, more like seltzer "essence" like the no calorie no sweetener seltzer you buy from companies like Polar.
The flavor is more of just a hint of berry or orange or lemon/lime.
I personally LOVE this product. The soda stays fizzy forever (we left a half of a bottle with the cap on outside fo the fridge for over a week while we were on vacation. We came back and the soda is still fizzy.). You can control the fizz and we don't have to run out for a case of seltzer everytime my boyfriend realizes he's out. Plus, if you're concerned about wasting less and drink alot of seltzer then you'll quickly realize how many fewer bottles you leave out for recycling (better to not use in the first place instead of recycle!!!)
Try a Torani or Monin syrup if you want "real" soda. Personally I hate the Sodastream sweetened soda flavors, they were too artificial tasting. Thankfully they came as a free sampler pack so we didn't waste any money on them.

I bought the SodaStream Sodamix Variety 12-Pack along with an Essence Three Pack. Neither of these items was a good purchase, but the Essence Pack was the worst of the two. While the Sodamix flavors taste nothing like real flavors, the Essence Pack tastes like plastic. Have you ever left a bottle of water in a hot car for several weeks and then tried drinking some? That taste is what the Essence flavors from SodaStream taste like. Just simply terrible.

I really like most of the Sodastream products but the Mywater essences are awful. No one in my family would take more than one drink. I tried them in the soda water, bottled water and over shaved ice. The taste was consistently artificial and chemical.

We use our SodaStream at least every other day to carbonate a liter of water. We use it to make our own version of carbonated fruit juices (like Izze, but way cheaper). We got the pack of free flavors and essences, and they were not very appealing. We do not drink any artificial sweeteners (only organic stevia, organic sugar, and organic agave), so we wouldn't purchase their flavors but I figured a friend and I would taste them.

The essences are worse than the traditional soda flavors. Really, seriously unappealing and could not take more than one drink. These Mywater things are bad. Their traditional soda flavors are ok. I don't drink coke or soda, but my buddy said it could pass for generic brand soda (3-star range?).

TLDR: SodaStream is amazing. Mywater Essences are not.
