5.0 out of 5 stars Get ready to hit the carpet!
This book will rip your guts out, but the whole time he is doing it, you know he is right. This book isn't for the "so called Christian." This book is only for people who desire to do God's work and fear him greatly.

3.0 out of 5 stars Solid but very familiar
If you have studied Ravenhill extensively, than you have probably heard all of what he has presented here. As has been his style (and many others), a lot of what they preach is from found in their books, or to say it the other way, a lot of what's in their books is found in their preaching. So if you've listened to him a lot, the ground covered here won't be new...

5.0 out of 5 stars Evangelism, for Christians, is not optional!, March 22, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Sodom Had No Bible (Paperback)
This powerful work, by a truly mighty man of God, will often make the reader wince at the conviction it brings. The message is from the throne and comes with annointing and power. If you name the Name of Jesus as your Lord and don't feel the need or "call" to be an evangelist for Christ's cause, this book will stir you and start a fire under you. A must read for every church leader -- in fact, every christian!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Voice We Need To Heed, April 4, 2005
This review is from: Sodom Had No Bible (Paperback)
Leonard Ravenhill is a voice that we need to heed. While Brother Leonard is no longer with us physically, his writings still can stir up your heart to long for true revival. Ravenhill leaves nothing untouched in the evangelical church. He wrote with passion, with a holy unction, and with a deep desire to see Jesus truly exalted in the Church. His writings are not for the weak in heart but for the true diciples of Jesus who long to hear from heaven.

In our day of seeker sensitive, purpose-driven, shallow Christianity, how we need the likes of a Leonard Ravenhill, E.M. Bounds, A.W. Tozer, or a John Wesley again. SODOM HAD NO BIBLE while begin you into the journey of reading that will leave you transformed forever.

This book left hellfire on the fringes of my clothes. I've never read anything so motivating in my whole life. If you can't take an honest look in the mirror, don't read this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars America has plenty Bible, December 29, 2001
This review is from: Sodom Had No Bible (Paperback)
All I can say is pray before you read this sound, sobering, and spiritual work. It will frustrate you and then fracture you. But if you read it in God's light, it will make you want to be fixed with faith.

5.0 out of 5 stars ravenhill cotinues to challenge believers, May 31, 2007
This review is from: Sodom Had No Bible (Paperback)
We are in a age that ministers pamper and comprise to their flock. Leonard Ravenhill, along with A.W. Tozer knew the battle of the christian soul, was a reality. Sodom had no bible continues to challenge believers towards a true and holy relationship with Jesus.

If you have studied Ravenhill extensively, than you have probably heard all of what he has presented here. As has been his style (and many others), a lot of what they preach is from found in their books, or to say it the other way, a lot of what's in their books is found in their preaching. So if you've listened to him a lot, the ground covered here won't be new.

I read this book, out of his 5 main ones (Why Revival Tarries, Revival Praying, Revival God's Way, America's Too Young to Die, and this one), last. There are a few good underlines, but it's nowhere near his other works their first time through. What is of note is in the back of the book he gives little mini biographies of revivalists throughout history. These were very insightful as he pulls out some lesser known facts about these historical figures.

So if you haven't read any Ravenhill, this would be a good place to start because his provocative preaching and writing will definitely challenge you. He speaks with authority and is passionate to see the Church operating today as it did in the first century. He has a genuine desire for holiness, seeking the presence of God, revival, and prayer.

If you are familiar with Leonard, then you know all this man's heart already, and won't glean too much fresh insight, save for the biography section.

I would highly recommend this book to any Christian. It is a challenge to the believer to be what Jesus commands us to be. This book will shake up the status quo. I learned a great deal from its pages.

Beware of reading this book. In it's pages are the ability to change a mans life. Leonard Ravenhill is best summed up as a man on fire for one thing...to change a nation. He burns with the passion of Elijah the Prophet to see America return to God on her face.

This book never seems to age or maybe what it says is true and prophetic. Get the book, read it, and you decide.
