5.0 out of 5 stars Great functional design
As far as I am concerned this is the perfect kitchen and postal scale. It's small and lightweight and looks great. It's simple to use and displays either ounces/pounds or grams. It handles weights up to 9.9 pounds. It has a tare feature that lets you zero out the weight of a container and weigh only the contents. I've been looking for a kitchen scale for some time and...

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice Scale, Poor Description
It's really a pretty nice scale, but I was surprised when I opened the package because it didn't match the description. It's small, only 8.2 x 5.2 x 0.6 inches. The capacity is 9 lb 14.95 oz, and the increment is 0.04 oz. Ok, the last two are no big deal but it's too small to weigh a big pot.

3.0 out of 5 stars Deceivingly large - it's actually the size of a DVD, December 21, 2008
This review is from: Soehnle 66100 Page Digital Kitchen Scale, White (Kitchen)
2011 update: I've had this scale for 2 years and it still works perfectly on the original set of batteries (or battery? I never had to deal with them/it). Amazon initially listed the wrong size, but now they've fixed it. The scale is TOO SMALL.

It's small enough that if you want to weigh a regular-sized plate, it will either fall off one end, or cover the display at the other. Please see the Customer Image that I shared.

Another annoyance: the imperial/metric switch is situated BENEATH the scale. If you want to switch from lb/oz to grams, you have to take everything off the scale (not that it would hold much, alas), turn it over and reach beneath.

Other than that, the scale is OK. The accuracy is indeed within one gram (I tested with various objects of known weights). You can place the thing to be weighed in any part of the scale (not that you have a lot of room) and it will weight the same.

If this scale were as thin but larger, perhaps the size of a cutting board, it would be totally awesome. But at the current size, it's more of a disappointment.

This scale is highly accurate with a very impressive design. Easy to store because it is so thin.

1.0 out of 5 stars not accurate, February 10, 2012

i loved the style of the scale (one of my favorite coffee shops uses the same scale for their coffee pour overs) so i decided to get one myself. this scale will fluctuate all over the place when weighing items, and when the item is removed it doesn't go back to zero (will still show weight on the scale). zeroing or taring doesn't help. had to return it as there was no way to get an accurate measurement. the tare button position also sucks as it's part of the weighing surface so when you push the button the weight changes, so the scale waits about 1 second before zeroing.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unreliable, January 16, 2012

The scale seemed defective. The reading fluctuated greatly depending on what surface it was sitting on. I got different readings measuring on the kitchen table than on the counter. The reading would also change greatly if the weight was placed on different points on the scale. I'm returning the product. I'm very disappointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sleek Kitchen Scale - Soehnle 66114, June 20, 2011

This scale replaced a Terraillon scale that was erratic from the start, and failed completely after a couple of years. No response when I tried to invoke the 10 year warranty.

This is a very nice tool. The touch controls work well, and the smooth top is easy to clean. The tare function is flawless, and the controls are not cluttered up with irrelevant options. If you want to go metric, the little button on the bottom is readily accessible, but not in the way in normal operation.

Highly reommended, and only a little more expensive than junkier products in this category.

1.0 out of 5 stars Unreliable, November 16, 2010
This review is from: Soehnle 66100 Page Digital Kitchen Scale, White (Kitchen)
I can't review Soehnle page scales in general; I can only review the particular Soehnle that I purchased. Maybe, in general, it's a great scale. The previous Amazon reviews are positive and it's carried by a lot of choosy high-level shops.

All I can say is that my Soehnle was unreliable, drifting according to its moods and spirits. I'd weigh 100 grams of water into my carafe. Then, I'd turn to get some sugar. Suddenly, there would be 132 grams of water. Maybe, befitting its cuteness, my Soehnle was just a playful device, but I like playfulness in kids and pets, not my kitchen scales thank you!

Returned the scale after a month, bought a rather clunky awkward-looking scale that was a lot cheaper. It's ugly, but it has a good heart (er, internal mechanism thingamajigs).

Scale is well designed and appears to to be precise, accurate and repeatable in its measurements. It is extremely easy to use and well constructed. The glass top is easy to clean. An ideal scale for easy storing away when not being used. The scale's large capacity makes it easy to use additive taring with mixing bowls.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worse scale I have ever owned. Flimsy and stupid design., February 13, 2012

I used to have a digital Philips Scale, and it lasted about 12 years in my kitchen. Than ti died so I need a replacement.

I ordered this scale because I thought would be an interesting design and slim.

The problem was this design has tons of problems:

when you are in a kitchen you need rugged tools, not a fake ipad. you need clear button. these buttons dont work well, and most disappointing the calculation of the weight was quite wrong (I tried with a measuring cup)

all in all this scale is a joke. can be nice for a gift if you want to lose a friend though. ;)

I returned it after 2 days and now i have an oxo and it works like a charm.
