I almost bought the Soehnle Futura (11lb max) scale, but the price and the reviews about the difficutly of switching from Metric to Imperial turned me off towards it. How lucky I was to find this scale. It is nearly $40 USD less than the Soehnle Futura (11lb max) and has a dial on top of the leg to switch from Metric to Imperial, making it very easy to switch back and forth. The scale is extremely accurate and easy to use and also can weigh up to 11 pounds. The glass top twists off, making clean-up very quick. The scale itself is very lightwieght. I have now been weighing out flour, sugar, ect., for recipes and the results are fantastic. Every cook needs this scale.

The 3 things I like best about this scale are:

1. The 11 lbs. capacity.
2. The simple add-and-weigh feature.
3. It's attractive.

There are other things to like. The scale is very accurate. It's very easy to switch between grams and ounces, although I only use grams. It seems to be very fast - after I reset to zero, using the add-and-weight feature, before I can grab my next ingredient the scale is ready to go.

I've started weighing all my food due to better accuracy. You can measure a cup of cereal and get an estimate, but I've found it to be a very poor estimate. I now weigh all my dry food because it is so easy and much more accurate. The add-and-weigh feature makes it quick to weigh multiple ingredients all in the same bowl. You turn on the scale, set your bowl on the scale, press the on/off switch, then the scale resets to 0 so that the weight of your bowl is not measured. Add your first ingredient and you know the exact weight of that ingredient. Press on/off again and the scale is reset to zero. Add your second ingredient and now you know it's exact weight. I know this is detailed for those who've used scales before, but I highly recommend this feature for those who are just starting to get accurate measurements of what they eat. I find this feature indispensable.

Whatever scale you choose, weigh your food! Take a moment to set up a simple spreadsheet and you can exactly track things such as calories, calories from fat, saturated fat, fiber, protein, sugar, sodium, cholesterol, etc. With this scale and a spreadsheet, it just takes a few seconds and you can see the true breakdown of what you are eating.

Considered the Futura but this scale has a smaller footprint and is easy to switch between grams and ounces/pounds with the button right on top. Glass on top screws off for cleaning. I like it and have had no problems in the 5 months owned it.

I don't know if Amazon keeps shipping the same broken scale or what, but mine would not turn on either. I returned it.

I have had this scale for over 3 years and love it. It's an invaluable kitchen tool especially if you are watching your weight or need to control portions. This particular scale is very reliable. It's automatic shut-off is a great features which saves on batteries. I have only replaced them once so far. For those who shop in bulk its great so one can accurately measure vegetables, grains, meats, etc. It is easy to keep clean, light weight, and stores easily. It might cost a little more then others available but, dollar for dollar, its far superior. You won't be disappointed.

I've been through all the usual suspects with kitchen scales. The Portion Powers, Weight Watchers, you name it. This one has them beat in every conceivable way. It arrives at the weight much faster, it's Tare feature is immediate and it's extremely accurate. The best part is, I've had mine for 10 years and I just replaced the battery for the first time last year! It also weighs in Grams and you can switch back and forth at will. It also doesn't shut off pre-maturely like my Portion Power had a tendency to do. Very frustrating to be weighing several ingredients in the same bowl and then having the scale shut off to save the permanent battery they come installed with. Since the Soehlne comes with replaceable lithium batteries, it gives you all the time you need. Even so, the lithium batteries last for a decade even with fairly regular use.

It's one of the best looking food scales you will ever see in a Kitchen. The pictures here don't do it justice. This is a top of the line, very reliable appliance. I'm so happy with mine I felt compelled to come in here and throw down a good review for it, even though I bought mine ten years ago from another store! Sorry about that Amazon, but I don't think I even had a computer yet back then. :D

Very nice looking scale. Unfortunately it would not turn on no matter what I tried. Battery was good, so it is evidently a bad switch.

The scale is of good quality but I could not turn it on. The very small printed instructions in many languages did not help. It was a pain to read them and only then realize they don't really contain enough information to solve any problems.

If the scale had turned on when I pushed the on switch, reset the battery or searched for a solution, I would have kept the scale because it is very nice.
