5.0 out of 5 stars Addictively catchy
Gotta love A Different Drum record label. They really know good quality music that would make a person happy. Every artist from the label I have bought has been nothing but pure joy for me to listen to. The latest album from Nevarakka is no exception. "Soft" picks up where "Color vs. Light" had left off with its infectious dance beats. I wouldn't necessarily label...

3.0 out of 5 stars It's decent, but compared to what's out there it's not remarkable.
First of all let me say i am a very harsh critic in General. When i give something a 3 i don't mean it sucks, but that it's average. I'd in fact give it a 3.5 or a 3.25 if the system allowed me, but i will move on. This album is soothing and relaxing and more of an album for background music played lightly whiled reading or distracted reading web pages or playing your...

I wouldn't necessarily label Nevarakka's music as synthpop. IMO it is more trance than synthpop but there definitely are elements of synthpop in the music. The songs are addictive to listen to, namely the tracks that Zandra Lundmark sings on with her child-like vocals. I find myself constantly playing "Dare" and "Super Groovie Style" repeatedly. The sugary pop hooks are irresistable. As dumb as the lyrics are for "Super Groovie Style" are, I have to admit the song has a killer hook and beats.Another favorite song of mine is the gorgeous ballad "Suddenly". It is a nice quiet way to close out the cd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nevarraka - Soft, February 20, 2008

Great album. I was looking for fun dancey trance with great vocals, and I found it. This album is certainly full of the magical dreamy trance feel, with several songs that are a little down beat to give you senses of relaxing nostalgia.

5.0 out of 5 stars Soft, Relaxing, and Uplifting, October 3, 2009

This very catchy music on this cd is indeed soft, relaxing, and uplifting. If you have an urge to listen to this calming cd I highly recommend "Super groovie style", "desire", "magical moment", "summer girl", "suddenly" and "Angel on Earth". Every song on this cd is superb but the tracks I just recommended are ones to listen to when you prefer and emotional boost that is simultaneuously uplifting and calming.

First of all let me say i am a very harsh critic in General. When i give something a 3 i don't mean it sucks, but that it's average. I'd in fact give it a 3.5 or a 3.25 if the system allowed me, but i will move on. This album is soothing and relaxing and more of an album for background music played lightly whiled reading or distracted reading web pages or playing your favorite video game. The songs are for the most part unique but none of them is really striking. A couple are slightly better than the others. I found "Audiophilosophy" to be one of the better tracks while a couple of the others like "Magical Moment" and "Super Groovie Style" had a bit cheesier lyrics that seemed to have forced rhymes(a personal pet peeve.) Is this a good album if you're looking to ad to your music collection? Yeah it's not bad. Is it great or anything? No compared to Jan Johnston, Kirsty Hawkshaw(ignore the Ice Castle) it's just not up to par. Now keep in mind they get to work with geniuses like Oakie and Johnston but it would take that kind of quality for me to give it anywhere near a 5.

To continue a couple of the tracks were purely beats and i found they were ok but lacking. This womans voice is beautiful let's hear more of it, with less forced rhymes.
