Among Sassy's best,
By A Customer
This review is from: Soft & Sassy (Audio CD)
This is a largely unknown gem in Sarah Vaughan's discography. A group of trio performances recorded in 1961 for radio broadcast, the songs on this disk feature to-the-point, swinging renditions of standards such "I Cried for You," "Over the Rainbow," "Tenderly," "Summertime" and "Poor Butterfly." In fact, the disk gets through the 16 tunes in 43 minutes, but it leaves you wanting to hear more -- the best possible compliment. Sarah's voice is light and well projected. The presence of Roland Hanna on piano is a bonus. In short, this disk ranks with her best studio work of the time with Count Basie and the minimalist "After Hours" LP. Highly recommended, especially given the bargain price.

NO WAY IS THAT A PICTURE OF SARAH VAUGHAN! And that makes me wonder about the contents of the product.
