Product Description

Product Description

Soft Sleeper 2.5 has found a way to give you the same great sleep surface as a $5,000 foam mattress for a price starting at 94% less the cost of a traditional foam mattress that sell at some retailers for over $5,000! There is a revolution going on in bedrooms across the country. The revolution is not between the sheets...it's under them! Soft Sleeper foam uses a technology first developed by NASA to make the most comfort sleep surface ever. We have taken that technology and developed a luxurious Soft Sleeper 2.5 next generation foam material. You may have seen the foam mattress story on TV but the secret is that only the top 2-4 inches of their $5,000 mattress is actually the technologically advanced foam. The Soft Sleeper 2.5 is a mattress topper made from pressure sensitive foam. This luxurious material reacts to your body weight, and the surface stays cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Over 9 out of 10 of our customers report that the pressure releiving contoured surface cradles their body and helps eliminate those pressure points created by traditional mattress surfaces. Another 89% of our customers reported less back and neck pain too. When it comes to buying foam mattress toppers, there are many options that need to be considered. Many retailers will offer a variety of mattress densities and thicknesses. We however only offer the softest and most luxurious Soft Sleeper 2.5 series in 2, 3 and 4 inch thicknesses. We are so sure that our Soft Sleeper products will improve the one third of your life that is spent in bed that we will offer you a no questions asked in home trial for 100 nights. If you are not sleeping significantly better and waking refreshed, send the mattress topper back for a full refund of the purchase price minus a 20% processing fee. There are no other sellers on Amazon that offer a generous in home trial like this.

2.0 out of 5 stars Stay away if you like it firm, November 5, 2009

This review is from: Twin 2 Inch Soft Sleeper 2.5 100% Foam Mattress Pad, Bed Topper, Overlay Made From 100% Soft Sleeper Pressure Sensitive Foam
Length:: 1:46 Mins

Note: The video does not have sound. I just wanted to show you some footage of what you were contemplating buying since the internet has relatively no pictures of this product.

Ok. I'm here to rate this pad because honestly, the other reviews were "about as useless as a poopy flavored lollipop." - Patches O'Houlihan. First, I'll tell you my situation so you can accurately assess whether or not this pad is right for you. I got a new mattress about 6 months ago and I'm dissatisfied because it's not as firm as I would like it to be. I'm a stomach sleeper because laying on my back gives me back pains when my butt sinks and lumbar isn't supported. My bed's starting to sag in spots and I was waking up a lot every night to change positions. I got this in hopes that I would have sounder sleep, which I would absolutely love. Now on to the review.

Soft Sleeper has this "great new 'Visco Elastic' foam". HAHA! Lemme give you a vocab lesson real quick.
Viscosity- Resistance of a fluid or other material. Water has low viscosity, Honey has high viscosity.
Elasticity- A property of a material when it returns to its original shape after the external force under which it deforms is removed.
So their high tech Visco Elastic foam just means it resists pressure (poorly I might add) and then returns to its normal shape. So 'Soft Sleeper', you can throw that technical jargon crap out the window. I've never came across a foam pad that wasn't "Visco Elastic foam".

But anyways, this pad arrived about a week after I ordered it. Came via FedEx in a kinda large box. Opened it immediately to find it packed in plastic with a slight vacuum. A small pocket knife will do to unwrap your new present. I was shocked and a little skeptical because this pad is just a piece of foam. You won't be impressed with its look. It honestly looks like a sheet of cheap foam. I laid it on my bed immediately and was very pleased to find that it fit very well - see video. (Twin size pad fits a twin size bed, awesome). The pad has a slightly slimy feel, so be sure to have sheets handy. I threw on my sheets, which still fit, and hopped in my new bed.

The initial laying down feels nice, but nothing more. Don't expect this to be some miracle sleep wonder. It's just a piece of foam, with NO MEMORY. That's right. If you sit in it and watch TV or play video games for a while, you'll leave a crease, but that's the extent of the memory. Just take a look at the video. I clearly show you in the beginning the pad has 0 memory. After opening, you'll soon notice your room start to fill with an intriguing smell. I sensed a strong pumpkin guts smell with a hint of gasoline. Not entirely nauseating, but still annoying. I couldn't wait to sleep on it, so I took my chances and slept with the smell. No problem. I woke up with no headache, and the pumpkin smell was nearly gone in just one night. But was my sleep quality any better?

I think slightly if any. Sure, it makes your bed softer. But that's not a good thing if your bed isn't firm enough in the first place. This pad, for me, would work a lot better if it were about twice as dense. So I would have to tell anybody with a bed that's too soft, this isn't going to do much for you.

MISC
*The pad tends to stick to the sheets and bed pretty well, but will still shift out of position about 2 inches in any direction over the course of the night.

***EDIT*** The pad shifting is a pain in the butt! (figuratively, of course) I don't sleep exactly in the center of my bed so the pad slips 1-2 inches every night and is a pain to get back straight again. It tugs at my sheets when shifted and eventually rips the sheets off the corner of the mattress. This is a very big drawback. I'm not sure if all pads shift, but this annoys me so much I'm thinking about just removing it altogether.

*The pad breaths very well. It doesn't trap a lot of heat, which I really like.

*The foam looks fairly durable, so it should last a few years at least. As long as the 'Visco Elasticity' can hold up.

***EDIT*** While trying to re-shift my pad on my mattress after i awoke, I pinched the pad and sheet to move it and a small chunk of foam got ripped off (about the size of an upside down 'Hershey's Kiss').

Overall, I wouldn't recommend it to you if your bed is not firm enough. But if your bed is too firm, this might be just the thing you're looking for. The $30 price tag seems slightly steep for a piece of foam, but again, what doesn't work for me might be perfect for you. I tried to give you as much information as possible to lead you in the right direction, but it's going to have to be your gut instinct on whether you buy it or not. And if I left something out that you would like to know, feel free to comment on my review. I get email notification on comments and I will be quick to reply if you need some more information. I hope I have helped you in some way and not wasted your time. Thanks for reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh my god..., June 19, 2009
This review is from: Twin 2 Inch Soft Sleeper 2.5 100% Foam Mattress Pad, Bed Topper, Overlay Made From 100% Soft Sleeper Pressure Sensitive Foam
I bought this mattress pad in November 2008... and I slept the best I ever have since I've been in college. Now that I've graduated, and the twin xl no longer works for me, I'm going to purchase one of these for my full sized bed. As far as I'm concerned, I'm a customer for life.

I have a memory foam on my bed and wanted something similar on my daughter's bed. This was more like an eggcrate foam than memory foam. It was a waste of money. Just spend the money on a thicker foam.

1.0 out of 5 stars This is not real memory foam
This is 2 inches of regular foam (egg crate), but not memory foam. It's not as elastic, or as dense as it should be. I guess I'll have to spend the $89 for a real one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality, extraordinary price
The price of $30 seems too good to be true, but the product has been quite satisfactory through several months of use.

4.0 out of 5 stars Durable pad and very quick shipping.
The pad is very durable, will last quite a long time. I won't have issues with ripping and torn corners like with other foam mattress pads. Read more
