Biography

Shelby Lynne was destined to be a singer. Born a singer. She was raised in rural Alabama by musical parents who stressed individuality and the importance of standing apart from others. A terrible student, but avid reader, she loved the written lyric and a beautiful melody. Around the house she was surrounded by country music from the past, Hank Williams, Dottie West, Waylon Jennings, as well ... Read more in Amazon's Shelby Lynne Store

Recently, I read that Shelby Lynne was "disenchanted" with her earlier recording years. She is a stellar performer. Her beautiful voice and enthusiasm conquer. She should never fear the past: she should celebrate the future. Shelby is a star, and those of us who enjoy the voice and the music are forever blessed. Thank you, Shelby. Entertain us forever!

It will forever remain a mystery to me why this talented young lady is not signed to a label at this time. I have never been moved by a performer quite as much as I am with this Diva. She has such a warmth to her voice, such control and such a wonderful range. I have listened to this CD a hundred times at least and I never tire of it. If someone out there is reading this that can put this classy young lady back on the road to stardom I wish you would take the chance. She is absolutely a-m-a-z-i-n-g.

The title sorta implies this album is soft gentle music. Well, I'm here to tell ya that even on ballads ~ Shelby ROCKS!
There's several ballads on this album, but Shelby's power-house vocals transform them into a moving experience.
This woman just plain has an excellent ~ powerful ~ passionate voice!
I'm completely baffled why she isn't a major star, one listen to this electrifying ~ mind blowing talent
and it's obvious she was born to sing.

The more I listen ~ the more I wanted to listen to this album!

> 1. Don't Cross Your Heart ~ rockin' country, great delivery, great song.
> 2. I've Learned To Live ~ powerful, yet delicate, ballad of losing a love & living with-out them,
but not over them & doubt that ever will be.
> 3, Alive And Well ~ beautiful country ballad, excellent, powerful,
of a love still being alive, even a long time after the loss
"my love is alive & well, in the best of health, although it's been through hell"
> 4. A Lighter Shade Of Blue ~ ballad, great performance ~ melancholy lyrics of getting over someone.
> 5. It Must Be You ~ EXCELLENT ~ powerful delivery, of being in love.
> 6. You Can't Break A Broken Heart ~ rockin' country, (my gosh, Shelby sure has great pipes!)
> 7. Soft Talk ~ well delivered ballad ~ falling in love.
> 8. The Very First Lasting Love (Duet With Les Taylor) ~ great love song ~
similar to some of the excellent duet love songs of the 80's ~ 90's.
> 9. Stop Me ~ rhythm & blues influence, excellent performance & great song of trying to get over some-one.
> 10.

This album is in the country genre, but it's one of those country albums which borders on the mainstream. Shelby Lynne has a very strong voice and she (or somebody) has picked a good set of songs for this and her two previous 'country' albums.
If you like Ms Moorer's recent mainstream albums, you'll probably like her country albums too.
