Biography

LADYTRON earned a decade’s worth of acclaim by relentlessly pushing boundaries, carving out new sonic and conceptual space and refusing to abide any formula or trend.

So it’s testimony to their craft to say that Gravity The Seducer, the fifth album from the electro-pop provocateurs, is vintage Ladytron — because, like each of the four preceding albums, it’s not quite like anything the quartet has… Read more in Amazon's Ladytron Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Phaedra Is My Name..., July 9, 2004
This review is from: Softcore Jukebox (Audio CD)
Okay, so Ladytron put together a pretty good mix of tunes. Some rock, some hip hop, some electro, some indie... something for everyone basically. Stand out tracks (for me) are the "new" version of Ladytron's "Blue Jeans" (i'm guessing the original is on L&M, which i haven't listened to that much), and "Teenage Daughter" by Fat Truckers (some other reviewer didn't like this song but I think it rules. I thought hearing the phrase "teenage daughter" a hundred times would wear on me but it really hasn't). I also don't mind Ladytron's cover of Tweet's "Oops On My" but I would have left it alone if I were them.

But what really rocks my boat seriously, is the very last track on the cd, called "Some Velvet Morning," a duet by Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra. My life could've been incomplete forever had I not found this gem of a song on Ladytron's cd. I am absolutely nuts over it. The song plays out like a musical duel, shifting between Hazlewood's sleepy cowboy-esque ballad and Sinatra's "step-one-two" Lawrence Welk-ish coos. The vocal parts entwine closer and closer together until the listener is getting single lines alternating in time. I can't adequately explain how wonderful this song is. Whichever member of Ladytron that selected this song for Softcore Jukebox has given me a beautiful gift indeed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Soundtrack of my life, April 22, 2004

This review is from: Softcore Jukebox (Audio CD)
I always wondered what sort of music inspired Ladytron. Now we have mix record by them. I usually don't look forward to mix albums but this seemed too good to pass on. Of course there is the cool punk bands here like Wire and The Fall. There is stuff from the sixties, including Nancy & Lee and Shocking Blue. There is all of Ladytron's labelmates at Invicta Hi-fi like Snap Ant, Dondolo, and Pop Levi. There is some good stuff from the past like My Bloody Valentine, Cristina, and New Fast Automatic Daffodils. There is even a new version of Ladytron's "Blue Jeans." Even better Ladytron does "Oops Oh My" which I hope is going to be the new direction for the next Ladytron album. This is a god party mix and an idea of some of the stuff that Ladytron DJ team plays at the clubs they do in London.

This CD is awesome. You need to find a quiet place lay down on some pillows and relax to the sounds and songs of this CD. The dreamy essence of all of the selections will put you at ease especially after a hard day of work. I especially like the tracks from WIRe and Nancy SInatra/Lee Hazelwood- it so totally rocks. Ladytron puts on a good show for anyone that is interested.
Enjoy!
