Maxwell's falsetto tickling your membrane, down tempo chill out beats putting you into a trance and the guitar riff towards the end of Sweetback's, "Softly Softly" will drive you delirious.
The magic and mastery of Sweetback (Stuart Matthewman) and Maxwell's voice here is that they aren't overt in SAYING what they want to do to you or what YOU want them to do to you. Just saying "Softly Softly" is enough for some listeners. Through few lyrics and a bass line/string mix, "soflty soflty" will leave you breathless. That's true music in my eyes. |
