Excellent Book for a course on Software Testing,
By
This review is from: Software Testing and Analysis: Process, Principles and Techniques (Paperback)
There are number of excellent features in this book which makes it an ideal book for a course on Software Testing/Analysis.Unlike many other books it covers a good mix of theory and practical issues. The list of topics covered are broad. The topics are also presented in coherent systematic manner throughout the book. Unlike many other existing texts this book is appropriate for a postgraduate level course, covering many topics at a greater depth. The open research issues presented at the end of each chapter presents many interesting ideas for students wanting to undertake research. It can also be used as a text for computer science/IT undergraduate students, in their final year of their programs. The right level of formalism is used/introduced making it applicable for a wide range of audience. It also includes a good set of tutorial questions and slides reducing the effort required for staff teaching Software Testing for the first time.

I had to buy this book for a grad-school class. I'm a year in to the program; about 5 classes. Of all the books I've bought for the program thus far, this book is the least useful. I never could use it except to get the text for the homework. As for the book contents itself, the book is riddled with silly examples that end up taking up a lot of space but don't really contribute anything to the book. (Chipmunk this and Chipmunk that!) I guess what I'm saying is the book isn't straight forward and contains a lot of unneeded text. This book is way overpriced and isn't worth it to me. Unfortunately, if you need a book on software testing and analysis, I can't suggest anything else...

Sine I was not familiar with software testing, this book helped in building the basics. It covers different topics which give it the edge upon other books.
