Useful and clear introduction,

There are few good introductions to software testing on the market. This is definitely one of them. The book's presentation of domain testing is particularly clear, better than anything else that I've seen in print. I recommend the book highly.

Best Overall Coverage of Software Testing,
By Ralph Worrest (rworrest@computer.org) (Waltham, Massachusetts, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Software Testing: A Craftsman's Approach (Hardcover)
This book does the best job of bringing the reader up-to-date on software testing practices. For the academics, it has references to the seminal books and articles and so deepen the understanding of a technique. For the practitioners, it gets to the meat very quickly, summarizes benefits and drawbacks, and illustrates use. It is THE text I use with students and coworkers entering this area of software process. Good work, Paul.

Surprisingly readable, excellent reference.,

This review is from: Software Testing: A Craftsman's Approach (Hardcover)
This book is so readable, it becomes almost fun to learn about this dry subject. Of all the testing books I've seen, this is my prime reference for all the basic analytic test techniques. If you want to master the testing craft, it's worth the money to get this book.

The book presents a good logical view of testing.,

I skipped through the first half of the book, as it covers basic computer science. What caught my attention was the development of the operational thread concept. Operational threads being a conceptual sequence of events, activity, and data that describe how the software should work. The book shows what they are, and how to use them to develop regression tests and other test forms. The down side is the use of the term "thread". It creates confusion with the "thread" used by operating systems.

Really its very good book for the basic understanding about the testing. Advance topics are just given as a overview. User might expect one more book from the same authour for detail of advance topics.....

Software testing, being one of life's most bewitching pursuits creates challenges for its practioners. Constantly caught in an identity crisis (not development, not sales,) software testing suffers from lack of appreciation.
This book helps guide testing in a direction that is more professional and thoughtful toward the subject. |
