4.0 out of 5 stars Orbis 4 is best yet, January 23, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Softwire: Awakening on Orbis 4 (Hardcover)
This series was fun. The first 2 books are mainly a "set up" for Orbis 3-4. The real fun is in the twists and turns as the plot unfolds. What is the real reason for the trip to the Rings of Orbis in the first place? Did their parents know what their life was going to be like when they arrived? I wonder if there will be a book "beyond Orbis 4?"

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Science Fiction Series, November 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book 4 conclusion to The Softwire series is an enjoyable science fiction read that is not only good for adults, but late elementary school to junior high kids will also enjoy - the author did change from Books 1-3 and added a few obscenities which were not in Books 1-3 which may concern some parents. It's unusual (at least for me) to find a book the whole family can enjoy without one set feeling as if it is too "dumbed down" for the younger set to understand and annoy the parents, nor too detailed or technical that the younger set will get frustrated.

Throughout the series, the author does a good job of quickly getting you into the story as well as lots of action that has you eagerly waiting to turn the page; there are a few strange sections of this one, and at times it seemed to drag just a little bit. As is typical with the series, however, your heart will race a little bit during some of the action scenes, and you get a feeling of actually being a part of the story vs. just someone reading a tale.

This was billed as the final of the Softwire series, but the author did leave it open with his conclusion for a sequel: here's hoping there is a sequel as I felt there were some major things that need closure. Overall, this was a good science fiction series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun and Entertaining Series!, July 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
In my family, we are all avid readers. We read a very wide variety of books from fun, quick reads to deeper books, and many classics. This series is one that all four of us have read and enjoyed. I will probably even reread them at some point. I do hope there will be another though because this one did end a little unfinished for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars You Must Read All 4 In The Series To Appreciate..., April 30, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
this amazing story takes you on a nonstop journey from the very the first page of Book One all the way to the last page of Book Four. Although the first book was free, I would have willingly paid more for the next 3 books. I felt the author did an incredible job with series and deserves every penny he makes with it. Job well done!

5.0 out of 5 stars Trapped on the Rings of Orbis, April 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Is it okay for a 31 yr old man to be crying over the end of a book. All right, so I didn't really cry but I love how much I hated the ending. I read all four books straight through (up til the wee hours and sneaking in chapters at work). Through the first three books, I couldn't put them down, I was in another world and the world was awesome. I love how much I hated the ending. It put in just enough reality and sadness for me to somehow get on with my life here on earth even though a part of me is still trapped on The Rings of Orbis.

Excellent Series! I highly recommend.

Ok, you have to think of all 4 books as one story.
Book 4 is where everything wraps up and comes together.
What started out as just a fun read has turned into a real page-turner.
I would give this book 6 stars if I could.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, BUT, March 26, 2011

Great series of stories but I highly resent getting suckered into the first "free" book then ever increasing cost for subsequent titles. Shame on the publisher for playing the sucker game.
