5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Gift Idea December 23, 2010
By Della
Format:Hardcover
Someone gave this to me for Christmas and I'm so glad I opened it early! I'll definitely be using some of the recipes over the holidays. This is a delightful little book! Anyone who likes to garden, cook, or just read charming prose will enjoy it. It's not just for fun, though, there's a wealth of useful information here. This should help the new gardener get started or give the experienced one a few tips on why some plants didn't thrive.

By J Smith
Format:Hardcover
This gardening book includes information about which plants grow well together and which ones do not, how much room plants need to grow, the amount of light plants need, optimum soil temperatures, how to handle pests without pesticides, composting, and other useful tips. It is very straight forward, well organized, and easy to read.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very cute, great gift December 29, 2011
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book is super cute, well designed and has some great advice that other garden books do not include. Before getting this book, I did not know that many vegetables don't like to grow near potatoes or that Nasturtium flowers will pretty much sacrifice their lives to pests and keep them off of your garden plants! Wow! Only downfall is that this one book is not enough for anything more than a super casual gardener. Aside from the selected vegetable pairings, there is no other various plant interaction tips or listings. She does go into some detail about natural predators and pesticides at the end of the book and how to prepare your garden for planting in the beginning, which is nice. Very cute design... made me smile.

5.0 out of 5 stars Funny Yet Informative May 16, 2011
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
I wasn't sure what to expect from this little book. At first, I thought I may have purchased yet another book that would just collect dust on my bookshelf. However, upon further inspection, I started appreciating the sense of humor with which this book is written. Plus the fact that as I planted my current garden, I consulted the book to see who would do well with who. I write a regular gardening blog and the way in which this book was written fit in well with my style. If you don't like humor and you want a serious gardening book, then this probably wouldn't be a good choice. I, however, love it and my sister-in-law promptly ordered one too after reading through mine.

5.0 out of 5 stars Informative and adorable! February 19, 2011
By Anya
Format:Hardcover
This book is a gem! Packed full of information on companion planting, while also being funny and charming. The illustrations are tons of fun, as are the descriptions. But beyond presentation, it is truly a great reference that would fast become a favorite of all gardeners. I can't wait to put it to good use this spring.

1.0 out of 5 stars Nothing to offer the serious gardener March 28, 2012
Format:Hardcover|Amazon Verified Purchase
I expected a book about companion planting. This book borders on a silly child's picture book except for all of the not so veiled sexual innuendo throughout. This is a bizarre little book that has nothing to offer the serious gardener.

4.0 out of 5 stars Soil Mates February 2, 2013

Such a cute book. I saw it in Anthropologie a few years ago and wanted it simply for the cover itself. It is a sweet, easy read and would make a great gift for a gardener at a relatively low price.
