The book is a very comprehensive and well written textbook. What is particularly of value is the section on swelling soils, that lays out the theory, analysis, and expected outcomes.
All in all one of the best books on swelling soils.

This book provides great depth and detail in unsaturated soil mechanics for geotechnical practitioners. It is always a reference that is used in moments of direction and confirmation. The hard cover keeps the book intact for a long life hopefully to be handed on to future generations. Due to it's size it is not a book for the field.
