Should've been a classic...,

This review is from: Sol Bianca Parts 1 and 2 (DVD)
I only have two major complaints about this series. One: The copy I purchased didn't work in my DVD player because of region coding, so I had to watch it on my laptop. Two: The two episodes left a few loose ends, hinting at a bigger story which sadly wasn't told. Now, I haven't watched the Legacy series, so I can't say if the plot points introduced towards the end of the second episode have been addressed or not. What I can say is that the animation is nice. I have an odd appreciation for traditional cell animation, so this is right up my ally. Secondly, it's every bit as entertaining as how I remember it being, the first episode especially, since it resolves its plot by the time the credits roll. The sci-fi elements to the series are also wonderful. Rarely do you see someone sniping a group of bad guys with a laser rifle from orbit. The action is fun, the protagonists, though lacking any sort of real backstory, are likable, and the antagonist is suitably spiteful. The aforementioned lack of any backstory is the series one major issue, though given the short runtime of both episodes, I'm willing to forgive it in favor of fun action. Taken at face value, the show is good entertainment, though I can't help thinking that there could've been so much more to this series. It also makes me curious as to how the events of Legacy are going to play out.
