Update: I've had these lights for almost a year now and they're still working great so I'm upgrading my review.

Bought one of each type to try them out - the kids really liked them a lot. Kind of a simple way to show them what solar energy is all about. And what a cool idea. I've seen outdoor solar lights, and rechargeable nightlights... even some nightlights that turn on automatically, but they are still plugged in, using electricity (albeit a little less!)

The idea of these is that they can run without any batteries at all, and they aren't plugged in where babies or really young toddlers might get shocked. It's a cool idea - and they relaly do last all night. the package recommends a bright, sunlit window. The kids' rooms seem fine for now, but as we get into wintertime, we might have less sunlight, so hopefully we'll still have enough charge if it's gray. The lights can take two regular batteries that work for backup power (we haven't tried that yet, cuz we want to see if we can go totally solar!)

Anyway, simple enough to put on the window... we did find that it was better to ge tthe suction cup slightly wet - or "moist" as the directions suggest. But they seem to be relaly secure on the window. Again, I like the design, as the base sticks on teh window, then you can bend the neck through the space inbetween your blinds, so when they are shut, you simply see the shape (a flower or a star) inside the room.

the star is white, and the flower is a great, blue color. Kids relaly like them, and I haven't had to think about them since (the lights, not the kids!) as they just turn themselves on and off and recharge. I

I really loved the shape of this nightlight, and the fact that it was solar powered so it wasn't a fire hazard like plug-in bulb night lights. However it didn't suction very well to the window, within a couple hours it fell down, even with making the suction cup damp before putting it on the window. And as far as a nighttime light source goes, this does not do anything for lighting up a bedroom, it's way too dim.
