Book Description

November 28, 2006
A teenage girl should not know the power of her body. But Sola Nichols discovers her power and uses it as the foundation that transforms her into a notorious assassin. Known on the street as the Brown Recluse, her exploits garner the attention of Pierre-Henri Monchats, a dangerous and cunning drub kingpin. Monchats takes Sola under his wing, and she develops a reputation for killing with trademark efficiency. But Sola is tested when she is forced to kill an unidentified woman after assassinating one of her boss's rivals. The next morning, Sola, the lethal huntress, becomes the hunted. An unknown gunman stakes out Sola's house and taunts her. Sola escapes and seeks out an old associate for answers, but she isn't prepared for the shocking relevations - the true identities of the two people she killed the night before. Sola soon discovers that her situation is grave, but she refuses to do down without a fight. What follows is a harrowing adventure through the streets of Columbus, leading to an epic encounter with the surprising assassin hired to kill her.

3.0 out of 5 stars An Eye for an Eye, March 19, 2007
This review is from: Sola (Paperback)
Sola by Dakota Knight is a breath of fresh air in the ever-growing street lit genre. At the age of fourteen, Sola Nichols has already dealt with more pain than most people deal with in a lifetime. She suddenly finds herself alone with no one to trust. Under the guidance of Pierre-Henri Monchats, a local drug lord, Sola draws upon her pain and suffering to become a highly respected and feared assassin. Her killer instincts and unbridled beauty have led many to their death. Sola's latest hit goes terribly wrong when she is forced to kill an unidentified woman. The hunter instantly becomes the hunted. As Sola fights to live another day, her mistakes of the past are starting to seep into her present.

Dakota Knight presents an unpredictable story full of action and suspense. Sola's character is complex and unpredictable. Readers will root for her every step of the way in spite of her killing ways. Minor grammatical errors found throughout the book are a small annoyance, but do not take away from the story. Street Lit fans will enoy the change of pace and different perspective that Sola offers.
