Sola by Dakota Knight is a breath of fresh air in the ever-growing street lit genre. At the age of fourteen, Sola Nichols has already dealt with more pain than most people deal with in a lifetime. She suddenly finds herself alone with no one to trust. Under the guidance of Pierre-Henri Monchats, a local drug lord, Sola draws upon her pain and suffering to become a highly respected and feared assassin. Her killer instincts and unbridled beauty have led many to their death. Sola's latest hit goes terribly wrong when she is forced to kill an unidentified woman. The hunter instantly becomes the hunted. As Sola fights to live another day, her mistakes of the past are starting to seep into her present.

Dakota Knight presents an unpredictable story full of action and suspense. Sola's character is complex and unpredictable. Readers will root for her every step of the way in spite of her killing ways. Minor grammatical errors found throughout the book are a small annoyance, but do not take away from the story. Street Lit fans will enoy the change of pace and different perspective that Sola offers.
