used them in our goldfish pond. they lasted about a month and went dead. the seller stated i should have returned them within 5 days for a refund. you can not change the batteries cause of it being a sealed unit.

We bought these lights in May of 2010 for our pool. After S&H, I paid $60, which I thought was excessive, but felt that these would be low-maintenance lights that would last for a long time because they are LED. When we received the lights, one stopped working within a month. I contacted the seller, who initially replied that they have a five (5) day return policy on damaged products. That's right - five days. To their credit though, they did end up replacing the defective unit at their cost, so no problem there, just be aware of this policy.Fast forward to November 2010. Currently, 3 out of the 6 lights no longer work, and a fourth is on the way out also. The lights are not left in the elements or in the pool, so the logical assumption is that they are garbage. When I contacted the seller regarding the initial defective unit, they replied it was probably a battery issue. I would suspect that is the problem with the non-functioning lights now; however, good luck accessing the battery. These units are sealed and if you break the housing, the unit will no longer be water-tight. So, I wasted $60 on junk. Learn from my experience and don't waste your money. PS - We have an enclosed, in-ground pool. One other thing I did not suspect was how attractive these lights would be to all manner of insects in the evening. Even with an enclosed pool, I still found hundreds of little insects floating in the water come daylight. If this is your objective, you may want to consider these lights (if you only need them to work for a few months). |
