Product Description

The Solar window heater/Whiteboard combination unit by Solar Window Chimney, LLC is "patent pending" and the most attractive, economical and useful solar heater on the market today. This unit fits a standard 24"W x 38"H double hung window and is 20" wide x 19" high. The unit covers the lower sash/section turns the window into a Smart Window by providing free heating and a whiteboard. Our products convert the power of the sun into free heat for your home, garage or other space. The unit provides free clean heat from south facing windows during the winter months as well as a whiteboard on the interior of a room for noting tasks, etc. Our passive solar window heating units will reduce your heating bills while increasing the life of your primary heating system. Depending on the design of your home, orientation of windows to the sun, and number of units you are using, your heating system may not operate at all on a sunny winter day. It uses thermosiphone technology to pull cooler room temperature air vertically from the bottom of the unit over a corrugated metal panel which creates little "chimneys". The chimneys ultimately increase the air flow over the solar heated metal panel thereby improving the heat output of the unit. Temperatures over 130 degrees have been recorded at the top of the unit. Since the solar window heater sits inside an existing window, there are no objections from Homeowner Associations (HOA) Boards. The units are simple, lightweight, have no moving parts, and have an infinite return on investment. The bottom of the unit sits on the window sill and is held to the window frame by adhesive/nylon fasteners. Installation/removal is easy and takes seconds. The basic unit has a Whiteboard/Dry-erase surface on the main interior panel with the trim painted white to match most interior window trim. A push-pin board can also be added seperately.

product looks homemade and mine was broken and I had to duct tape it together before I could use it. It does put off some heat, but not enough to completely warm a bedroom. These can be made cheaper and better with free plans from the internet. If you live in a warmer state these might do the trick, but not in Colorado.
