Product Description

Cook food using only sunlight for fuel. NO flames, no electricity. Save money and have fun doing it! To be used during the hot summer months only. Great for camping, RVing, fishing, recreational outdoor parties or just trying it out for fun in your own backyard. As the heat builds up, temperatures inside the pot can reach up to 300 F. It's light and easy to use. The oven is made with an exclusive proprietary 3 ply fusion process with 99% pure aluminum textured facing. It is non-toxic and contains no allergens. These are durable, flexible and waterproof. Unlike cardboard cookers, which can get damaged once it is bent or gets wet. It can accommodate up to a 12" pan, rectangular pans, and even dutch ovens. The sides, back and front fold up around and reflect the sun back into the pan. This whole unit folds back up into a square measuring roughly 12" x 13" x 2" and weighs under 10 oz. People love this oven because it is so easy to use and is inexpensive. Comes with directions, some recipes, bag for pot, (you provide the pot). All you need is sunshine and your favorite dark cooking pot. This solar cooker requires at least 5 hours of strong direct summer sunlight. Not recommended for thick cuts of meats or foods that require long cooking such as dried beans, etc. We only recommend this to be used during the summer months when the sun is directly overhead. **For every purchase of a Sun Chef Solar Oven, $1 is donated to help build water wells in developing countries like Kenya.

I wish I had read reviews before buying this product. I followed all the instructions to the T and this thing does not work. It you want to have a hot food, not cooked food this will do the job.I live in Texas and used it in the summer heat and full sun with outside temperatures in the 100's and my food got hot being out from morning till the sun went done and nothing got cooked, I could not even give that food to the dogs. Had to go in the compost. Strongly recommend against it. This product needs more testing and maybe better design.

I bought this oven solely to bake bread when it is too hot in the house to turn the oven on. Bread does not come out well in it. After baking for a few hours the middle is still doughy.

First of all, this did not come with the pot--as shown in the picture. Second, the solar panel is nothing more than one of the windshield things that you can buy for $6.00 in any store. No big secret technology here.

This little panel solar cooker is good for pasteurizing water for drinking and for cooking stews, potatoes, cassaroles, and other vegetables. The tempertures I got were barely above 250 degrees (that was in the Spring, March, April and part of May). I probably could have gotten up to 270 degrees in the Summer months here in Summer, but I didn't try them. I built a larger oven that reached close to 300 degrees in May for about 10 dollars. This is a good starter oven and will work well as a survival appliance when long power outages are upon you. I have both stored away for survival purposes. I haven't tried to bake bread with them. I probably could but the baking time would have to be increased by about a couple of hours which is no biggee. With two or three of these ovens you could cook a whole meal outdoors. Just cook only what you can eat that day or invite the neighbors in for a meal. If your power is out, you won't be able to store leftovers in the fridge.

I Purchased the Solar Oven to cook in emergencies and have not had a chance to use it yet! I am going to assemble it and give it a test during the summer months.
