5.0 out of 5 stars Good buy, July 9, 2010

This worked for me for a while, until I got a bit over-zealous! Be sure to measure your output, or you'll fry this like I did.

That said, I would definitely buy this again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Tiny Controller at Work, September 21, 2011

I purchased this controller to use with a 10 watt panel. 10W Monocrystalline Solar Panel 18V 0.55A UPG 87500 It's intended use was to keep the batteries on my boat topped off. The controller arrived before the solar panel, so when the panel arrived on a bright sunny day, I put them both to the test.

Indeed, this controller will do the job. It did a good job of outputting full power (0.6 Amps) from my little 10 watt panel. One of the great features is the built in automotive type mini blade fuse. The cover snaps off, should you have to change that fuse, which is on the input from the solar panel(s). You'll need to add a fuse on the load side.

Though it is functional, I didn't like the sturdiness of this unit for a marine application. I'll be setting it aside for another project, and have purchased an ASC 4 Amp controller to do the job. The ASC unit has a metal case, much larger terminals to accept heavier wiring, and is well potted so as to be waterproof.

Not knocking this controller for a less critical application. It may well do just what you need.

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great, November 30, 2010
This review is from: Solar Panel Charge Controller - 3 Amp / 12 Volt (Misc.)
I use this with two 12W solar panels, It's only capable of 3 amps of current through it, which is not much, but on small scales it's good. I have been using this controller to charge a battery bank of 3 5Ah 12V batteries for about 6 months now and no problems.

You can't really tell in the picture, but the 2 holes on the top of the controller are indicator lights, a red and a green light. These indicate when the unit has the load on and if the unit is currently charging the battery bank.

Best of all, I have never plugged my laptop into the grid. as it will run for 7 hours on this setup.
