4.0 out of 5 stars They work
Now ***
I bought 3 of these over a year ago - and they are still working well, even after a Maine winter.
So just bought another 2
The LEDs give something akin to good moon light - so don't expect 1000 watt flood lighting !
For seeing pathways on dark nights, lighting up steps, and perhaps as deer scarcer they work great. They come on as you approach...

3.0 out of 5 stars Maxsa Solar Wedge Light
Great concept for outdoor lighting but has a design flaw in the mounting bracket. The metal bracket is easily secured to any surface but the light casing has a cheap plastic key that allows you to attach the light to the bracket. What you end up with is a tightly secured mounting bracket with a loosely attached light. If the manufacturer would re-design the mounting...

For seeing pathways on dark nights, lighting up steps, and perhaps as deer scarcer they work great. They come on as you approach and off about 1 min later.
They are designed to be hang on walls. The wedge shape is perfect for getting light during the day i.e. charging, and then lighting the area beneath them when a warm body passes by (IR activated).
If need be, the batteries can be replaced (the manufacture says ~2 years)

in short - simple, effective, a little costly (look around for a deal)

Post script
Sadly, one cease to function after the 90 days period - I replaced the rechargeable batteries with better quality ones - and its running again.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great little light, March 13, 2010

These motion solar dusk to dawn are great little lights! I mounted 2 of them, one centered over each of my garage doors. Its perfect for what I needed - just a dimly lit driveway to find my house key. I didn't rate them 5 stars for 2 reasons. First, the way they attach to the mounting bracket. They lock on one side of the mount and not the other. I had to shim them tight so the wind (and boy do we get winds here) wouldn't blow them off the left side mounting hook. Second, I like them and would buy more but I think they are a little pricey. I also wish they came in colors - like white - instead of the greyish plastic they are moulded in. I know I could probably paint them but it would be a lot of work to cover all the sensors and you would still have the grey color inside the lens.

If the manufacturer would re-design the mounting system this lighting concept would be a five star super value. The light itself projects a light beam resembling a bright full moon and works very well.

4.0 out of 5 stars works great, July 7, 2009

works well, lights well, senses motion well but it's an awkward shape. I use it indoors to light the walkway at night (as needed - motion detected) & put it in the sun during the day. it's an awkward shape. i wouldn't have the guts to try mounting it myself but I'm sure it's not hard to do if you know what you're doing. not intuitive though. i can put together an exersaucer myself but would have to read the instructions on how to mount it. ps - it only costs $25 (twentyfive) bucks at target. I bought mine in the store.

4.0 out of 5 stars Recommended light, October 24, 2010

A handy light to illuminate your side path for example. Not the brightest light around but good for the purpose. Not the prettiest either in its' grey colour but in our location you don't really notice it.

Has no light sensitivity setting (how dark), nor timer setting (how long it stays on). It just comes on when it detects motion after dark and goes off after about a minute. Simple as that. We like them so much we have three.

I initially bought a similar light (black case, instead of gray) from Target, on clearance for $19.99. After bringing the light home and installing it, I liked it so much that I returned the next morning to Target and bought the last one on clearance.

Both lights performed so well that I recently bought two more of the gray lights from Amazon.com, albeit at over twice the cost of the clearance lights I bought from Target.

The lights are good quality, provide excellent lighting *for a solar powered unit*, with a clean, contemporary appearance. They've endured several heavy rain storms: completely unaffected.

I even have one light facing west that performs well. I suspect it isn't getting enough charge to provide the rated 300 activations night after night. But it only gets activated a few times a night, always providing full illumination.

5.0 out of 5 stars Outdoor Solar Light, February 2, 2011

Needed a light for the slider going to our deck and didn't have any power out there. Found this light to give it a try. So far so good, easy to install, charges well and is bright enough for safety as well as seeing what I am grilling. Liked it so much I bought another for the other side. Less sun there so hope it works as well

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for my use, June 23, 2010

I have this mounted above the southfacing doorway to my garage. It lights up my door when I walk up to it, no more, no less. I didn't want to have to install a separate solar panel, so this design was very convenient. It has worked flawlessly since I installed it last season.

2.0 out of 5 stars Bright light, erratic motion sensor, June 29, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Solar Powered Motion Activated LED Wedge Light (Kitchen)
I purchased this light to illuminate an area on the side of my house where I store my garbage cans. Installation was straight forward, but the light housing has a curious quick-release function that requires the use of an included key. Unfortunately, the motion sensor initially worked very well but became unresponsive after the first week. Your results may vary.
