I borrowed my sister's kindle to read this book and it did not disappoint. I was enthralled from the beginning. Sarah is a great writer and she drew me into her story quite well. I felt like I was catching up on the life story of an old friend. Well worth the 3$.

Loved reading this memoir. I also grew up in the 80's and could relate to the insecurities of the writer. A great read for the ladies, and insight into ladyhood if you're a man.

I'm not a big reader but I picked up this book because of the title. I had no idea what it meant, but I figured if the inside was as interesting as the outside of the book, it would be entertaining.

My only complaint is that it's not available in print, which would be a nice alternative.

But the book itself didn't disappoint - I read it in one sitting (which I haven't done since Twilight or Hunger Games).

The book was a lot of fun to read - the way she writes makes you feel like a close friend/confidant and she's telling you all of her secrets. Kinda like reading someone's diary haha.

And lots of laughs along the way. There's a story about "romance" in keyboarding class that I still laugh about. HOME ROW!! HOME ROW!! "F-U--"

Anyway, happy I bought it, definitely more than worth the $3 it cost.

Loved this book.  Relate-able to woman of all ages.  Breathtaking account of the author‘s life; the good, the bad, and the ugly.  Tender reminder of my own formative years and the art of living and figuring it all out along the way.  sarah if you read this, lets do lunch

I found this book honest and insightful. All of life presents it's difficulties and Sarah Ryan did a uniquely special job of sharing her experiences and the turbulence of going through them. I wish I had could have helped her or at least been someone for her to talk to during those times.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I'm an avid reader of memoirs and raced through Solar Powered Sex Machine in one night--I simply could not put it down. Ryan starts the book with early childhood escapades and goes on up through her college years and later, marriage and birth of her first child. What makes the book a stand-out--aside from Ryan's wicked sense of humor--is the equal treatment she gives her foibles as well as her triumphs. Maybe that's why it was so easy for me to see myself in her story: they say the individual is the universal, and Ryan's greatest strength might be her ability to coax readers into a fresh round of introspection on their own flawed, hopeful lives.
